misterbiscuitbarrel: If Damnation were added, it would be used to help me stay alive long enough to get the appropriate creatures in the grave (which it could help do) before casting Necrotic Ooze to combo off. As things stand, I have a lot of targeted removal, but nothing to combat my opponent having multiple creatures or creatures with hexproof (thrun, giest, etc.) Also, if Thornling were in the graveyard, Necrotic Ooze could become indestructible and survive the boardwipe. In light of those arguments, would you still say Damnation is a no-go?
Thanks for the input on Reaper of the Wilds, I think I'll begin testing it out.

You do raise a good point. I would add it and playtest it a few times to see how it works out. I would also try to get your hands on another two Lotleth Trolls. A discard outlet with no mana cost is truly invaluable in a deck like this.

klone13 It is a removal spell that can target any nonland permanent (thus letting it potentially take care of annoying creatures or graveyard hate cards), has potential to be used multiple times, and can potentially be a win con all in itself.

Hey man! Great deck and some combos I didn't even think of myself! I particularly like the Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord idea! And I<ll more than likely find a hole for Reaper of the Wilds in my deck! That thing is just...too strong to pass up!
I don't wanna be THAT GUY but check mine out and tell me what you think!
Thanks

Really good deck +1. My friend actually plays a deck almost identical to this. I personally believe that Golgari Grave-Troll does deserve a spot in the deck only because, as you said, sometimes you want to go aggro in your deck, and that is the card to do it. It offers insane value for a five drop and works especially well in a graveyard-based deck like yours. Also, if for some reason your combo pieces dont get found, Necrotic Ooze can use its ability while its in the graveyard. Just a thought however, you are the one who plays the deck.

GlitterFang Thanks for the feedback! I'm still on the fence with the troll. I played Stinkweed Imp for a while and ended up cutting it. If I did want to play with a dredge creature, I don't know if one extra dedged card and the possibly higher power are worth the two extra mana and absence of deathtouch. Also, the only time Necrotic Ooze has a +1/+1 counter to spend on GGT's regeneration ability is if it has been cast using Savage Summoning in a post-sideboard game, but I suppose the possibility is there.

Fair enough. Another question; do you think Darkblast is good enough to mainboard right now? Modern is currently ruled by creatures with 4 and 5 toughness. Don't you think Damnation might be a better option?

Taylor Life from the Loam. Does that help? Manning is upset with you for deleting his comment from before.

TheGameMaster85 I'm not sure, it would certainly help fix mana problems while filling my graveyard, but Grisly Salvage already does that and more. It's worth consideration though.
nmannign21 I didn't delete your comment, it's right here.

Cool! What's the picture of?
Also, I'd cut tree in the SB.

Scorprix There's no picture, just some text decoration using xhtml. Do you see spoiler text buttons?
Tree of Redemption allows me to acquire infinite life with necrotic ooze or ~10 extra life if it's in play. This can be invaluable against a burn deck or any fast aggressive deck. I'm curious to hear you thoughts on why it should be removed.
No Pack Rat does not affect Necrotic Ooze's P/T. The ooze only gains the ability to pitch a card and create a copy of itself.
Thanks for the feedback!

Awesome deck. +1 Did you think about adding blue to mill yourself?
April 11, 2015 2:43 p.m.
Thoeo As a matter of fact I have. So far, I've considered a red splash for Faithless Looting, Lightning Axe and Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker combos, and I've considered a blue splash for self mill from Mirror-Mad Phantasm, Thought Scour, etc. and combo/protection abilities such as Prognostic Sphinx and Horseshoe Crab.
What I found was splashing for one or two of the above cards in the current version of the deck led to more inconsistency than it helped. My solution is, once I'm satisfied with the version, to create dedicated Sultai and Jund versions of the deck that are fundamentally different in how they set up for and win with combos. Necrotic Ooze is an extremely versatile card and I'll not know the best version of this style of deck until I've tried them all. Thanks for the interest in the deck!

I suggest, for the sideboard, Duress, Golgari Charm, and Spellskite. I also highly suggest NOT going . Mirror-Mad Phantasm seems really bad, because usually getting the creatures in the yard isn't the problem, it's keeping the ooze alive. However, I think a one-of Stinkweed Imp would be ok, because it's very good vs stuff like abzan and big zoo.

I guess maybe a full out Sultai version could work, but I wouldn't suggest just splashing for blue.
April 19, 2015 4:27 p.m.
pumpkinwavy I like Golgari Charm and Spellskite for the sideboard, do you have suggestions on what to swap out for them?
Regarding Mirror-Mad Phantasm: I think you're right about this, I've been leaning towards not adding it for a while. The reason I am considering it is its ability mills me and protects Necrotic Ooze from targeted removal. It just seems to much of a hassle to add to the mana base just for that.

What about dropping one Krosan Grip and Savage Summoning for one Spellskite and Golgari Charm?

Also, I feel adding red would be much more beneficial then adding blue if you do end up deciding to add a third color.

I would not make either of the edits you are looking for in your description. Damnation would kill your Ooze and Cavern of Souls isn't quite versatile enough for this deck. I would, however, definitely add Reaper of the Wilds. Its abilities would be just nuts on your Ooze and when all else fails, it's a good card on its own.
