Also, if anyone knows about better source of life than Nyx-Fleece Ram I am all ears. I don't really like that one.

So, I switched Stormchaser Chimera for Haunted Plate Mail

So far I can tell that: Sorin, Solemn Visitor is good, Utter End is awesome. The things I have problem with is the creature that can go with sorin's first +1 so I can gain life immediately.

Mindswipe is not so good, so I count it as a free spot. And I am thinking about another Dissolve instead of one Anger of the Gods

Hi BookBurner,does Sorin's +1 trigger for the Plate Mail in your turn to block? If yes, that would be a nice way for life gain. Other than the ram, my only idea for life gain is using a 1-of Resolute Archangel and tutor it with Liliana Vess . I use it in my deck Esper Control [Post-Rotation] and it is ok, but maybe there are better options.

+1 from me

Yes, Already tried that, it does, first, you have to rise your plates and then use sorin's +1. I also experimented with Whip of Erebos which is working tremendously with Keranos, God of Storms

Whip of Erebos is an amazing life source imo but youd need more creatures to make it viable. I would say run Stormbreath Dragon as a win con and a way to gain life with Sorin +1 or Whip.

yep, I was thinking about him as well :)

I reduced Sorin, Solemn Visitor to 1, I can always find him with Liliana Vess . The same would apply to Whip of Erebos but I cant wait for him another turn, I usually have to use it immediately with Haunted Plate Mail or next turn ability from Keranos, God of Storms

So, I got rid of Thoughtseize in my main deck, it was causing more problems than it solved. I now use Duress in sideboard, for against mirror, it works the same way.

I also added another Chandra, Pyromaster , Drown in Sorrow , Dissolve and one Stormbreath Dragon

PS: Duress is out... I will use despise instead :)

what about a singleton of Mogis?

I tried him, and switched him for Chandra, Pyromaster . He is good, but he does not kill pretty fast, and usually does not help in removing the creatures. Because at turn 4 opponent rather takes 2 dmg than sac a creature. And usually creature decks will kill you faster than 2 dmg a turn. So I am using more removals and chandra, which is helping to play more cards or kill target weenies.

Resolute Archangel is the best source of life, but he comes to play really lategame. Jeskai Charm can also give your creatures lifelink and pump them up, as can Sorin, Solemn Visitor . Lifegain is going to be a problem in the current standard. Sucks especially since I got used to being spoiled with Sphinx's Revelation .

I have tested some time and in my opinion, Sorin, Solemn Visitor in combination with Nyx-Fleece Ram as blocker or creatures played with Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver is better than Resolute Archangel , as he can be played earlier and has more versatility. Currently I am playing 3 Rams, 1 Sorin and a few lifegain tap lands and it is ok to stabilize. The archangel is in my sideboard vs. burn.

Tilwin... tell me about that, no elixirs no revelations :D. It will surely suck :D

m-d-an: I suppose you are using Nyx-Fleece Ram in esper control deck? I was thinking about rebuilding grixis splashed with white into esper splashed with red or rid myself of white colour altogether.

m-d-an says... #15

BookBurner: Yes, Esper Control.

As you only have three white cards, I would suggest to play w/o white. Your only problem could be the missing possibilities to exile. For exiling creatures, you could use Silence the Believers . And versus opponent's enchantments (or Gods), some Negate in combination with Jace's bounce is a possible solution. Void Snare in sideboard is also possible.

Added Force Away into sideboard. The deck needs some protection against Ensoul Artifact :)

Removed Winterflame from both main and side, added Disdainful Stroke and Force Away .

Switched Mindswipe with Disdainful Stroke much more useful in recent games.

You need more card draw, Treasure Cruise would work well here.

November 7, 2014 2:12 p.m.

BookBurner says... #21

Yep, I am already testing 2x Treasure Cruise instead of 2x Arc Lightning, it is not that bad, I will probably keep it that way. I will try to alter the number of goblinslides and contemplations as well. (cause I like arc lightning)

November 8, 2014 9:54 a.m.

BookBurner says... #22

Ok, I edited the deck after some testing, some sideboard stuff was thrown away

Goblinslide =>sideboard

Arc Lightning => out

Treasure Cruise <= in

Crater's Claws <= in

So, I finally found my true nemesis. Temur aggro/midrange decks. That 3 mana monkey is just too much to handle, any ideas on how to beat it efficiently? :D

BookBurner says... #24

I am currently experimenting with build playing without Keranos, God of Storms and Chandra, Pyromaster. I am trying to utilize Pearl Lake Ancient and more counterburn.

PS: But I will probably stick with current build :) It works well :D
