A renewable lightning storm in a deck!
This deck is based around the amazing ability Athreos, God of Passage brings to the table, but utilizes it in a different way. Rather than simply bringing back small one-drops, and trying to save your big creatures from death, this deck is all about putting down one-turn threats like Ball Lightning, and forcing your opponent to choose between even more damage, or another turn of the onslaught! Here's the gameplan:
CREATURES
Athreos, God of Passage - the star player of this deck, the goal is to have Athreos out as fast as possible, so you can start throwin' down creatures and dishin' out damage
Lightning Serpent
- a card better in the late-game, you can massively buff it for a quick lethal
Hellspark Elemental
- with Athreos, even if they pay to kill it, you can bring it back next turn
Hell's Thunder
- flying and more toughness help against blockers and spot removal, and just like Hellspark you can bring back from the graveyard
Ball Lightning - a very strong card when paired with Athreos, potentially dealing nine damage for three mana
Vexing Devil - either a 4/3 for one, or seven damage for one with Athreos
Eidolon of the Great Revel - a two-drop filler that will help burn out your opponent faster, even if it means taking some damage in the process
Basically, just rush your opponent with haste and trample creatures, and then either deal more damage, or bring them back to your hand.
OTHER SPELLS
Lightning Helix - some convenient spot removal, or to get some more damage in with some added life bonus
Dreadbore - a two-drop to clear the way for your attackers and avoid powerful planeswalkers
Path to Exile - cheaper than Terminate, and can deal with indestructible and death triggers
Idyllic Tutor - basically this deck's way of getting Athreos out as early as possible
SIDEBOARD
Blood Moon - if put out fast enough, can effectively freeze decks that rely on dual lands
Rally the Ancestors
- when creatures aren't getting through, put them all back onto the battlefield for more
Lightning Bolt - just some cheaper/quicker removal/burn
Porphyry Nodes - help clear board while posing no threat to your own creatures
Shattering Spree - for those pesky artifact decks
Pandemonium
- in slower games can help ramp up your damage very quickly
