RG Landfall Standard at its core, with a blue splash and some SOI infusion. Synergy with landfall triggers, some investigation and Elementals. Definite credit to this deck Omnath's Elementals (Gruul Landfall), courtesy of iZee. After much trial and error, this deck differs in some of the creature choices and perhaps the amount and type of ramp spells, but perhaps most significantly with the add of Blue to let Radiant Flames work for 3 colors, to get Lumbering Falls awake, and to allow for some SB counter magic. In essence it gets after the same overall plans and options.

3-1 at FNM 6/24:

  • Lost RD 1 in 2 to a RW Eldrazi brew. Mulled to 5 in G1 and didn't recover, got mana-hosed in G2 (and his deck ran well)
  • Won in 3 in RD 2 against a UB control deck.
  • Won in 2 in RD 3 against an Arlinn Kord werewolves deck that frankly wasn't built well.
  • Won in 2 in RD 3 against a variant of WB control that splashed green.

Overall, the deck has a lot of ways to win. I had Sylvan Advocate do a ton of work, and at times Tireless Tracker gave me card advantage with Clues, while Undergrowth Champion gave me a stubborn body on the board. Mina and Denn, Wildborn is of course a core part of the engine for the land equation and is a legit 4/4 body, but I've found I don't always need her to win. At times, she actually drew removal hate that left me more open to play bigger threats.

The real heroes are of course Chandra, Flamecaller and the addition of 2 Dragonlord Atarka. I cleared the board of three weenies on multiple occasions when Atarka entered. Additionally, I can't say enough about how much work both Lumbering Falls and Wandering Fumarole did. Omnath, Locus of Rage is of course great when he sticks and you play some land. In RD 4, my opponent had to play a Planar Outburst to stay alive, but in the process took 6 to the face by killing Omnath and an Elemental token.

SB is pretty straightforward. I was questioning Oblivion Sower, but he netted me a bunch of land (hit all 4 in one game) and a 5/8 on the board feels good.

Anyway, this is certainly not a top tier deck of course, but it feels good and flexible after a lot of kitchen table testing and a good maiden voyage at FNM.

Constructive comments welcome!

Thanks!
