Temur, the deck of patience. Removal is king in standard and love to remove that big threat. This can be avoided with the help of good tempo cards that help keep you in pace with the opponents counter-moves. Another weakness Temur deck have is a lack of an early game, which is only hurt more by a lack of practical lifegain.
To combat these issues, I've decided 1st to add Collected Company to the deck. This instant allows for a deduction in mana used to cast spells late game, adds possibly two threats to the board and allows those creatures to inherit pseudo-haste. Second, I have moved towards ramp that won't end up hurting the deck long term. Explosive Vegetation and
Beastmaster Savant
help improve the speed of the deck overall. Lastly,
Retreat to Kazandu
has been added to grant lifegain and/or +1/+1 counters to allow lands to not become dead draws.
Here is a preview of the deck:
Creatures:
Beastcaller Savant: Creature ramp for the current standard.
Rattleclaw Mystic: A key to getting an early start. With the departure of Elvish Mystic and the lack of strong turn one creatures, this human shaman helps provide a strong mana base on a 2/1 body.
Nissa, Vastwood Seer
: Nissa, a legendary creature who has found her spark and man does she not disappoint. Her ability to not only grab you a forest, but when she sparks, she is a straight draw engine for the deck. Her ult basically wins you the game!
Undergrowth Champion: a 2/2 with landfall +1/+1 counter trigger and anti damage ability with a counter on it. A useful way to make use of the fetch lands.
Savage Knuckleblade: A 4/4 with a strong upside in this deck. His 3 mana abilities make him a formidable creature to handle through the course of the match.
Thunderbreak Regent: A self-explanatory dragon.
Surrak Dragonclaw: Because I hate my creatures being countered and love trample!!!
Dragonlord Dromoka: The Dragon made for anti control. 5/7 flying lifelinker that can't be countered is simply beautiful! The last clause is the cherry on the top!
Dragonlord Atarka: The king of Beatdown city. This Dragon don't play! The value received at 7 mana is immeasurable!!!
Instants:
Stubborn Denial: Used to stop removal, fight and planeswalkers.
Collected Company: a great way to grant your creatures a fast and meaningful start.
Sorceries:
Crater's Claws: a great to finish off the game especially if you get mana flooded.
Sideboard:
Undergrowth Champion: A powerful elemental with a unique and useful ability to stop damage from being dealt to it. In addition, landfall triggers +1/+1 counters to be placed on it.
Surrak Dragonclaw: A second brotha that is sided in against control or weenie decks.
Disdainful Stroke: added help when playing against R/Gr Eldrazi, Abzan and other decks with non - Dromoka finishers.
Display of Dominance
: sided in against Esper Dragons and other decks with black or blue big creatures or removal in them.
Sarkhan Unbroken: his plus is a great draw engine. his first minus is a strong defender.
