Creature (1)

Double ETB for me, but none for thee.

White is my favorite Magic color. It just has so many good tools available to it. And despite the continued flow of excellent white cards that come in every set, it still feels like the most looked-down-upon color from players. Which made me want to build a deck that highlights the strength this color can offer.

Elesh Norn, Mother of Machines is a house, opening up a wealth of absolutely degenerate "enters the battlefield" combo shenanigans.

Our game plan is a janky blinking combo focusing on the ETB triggers of Inquisitor Exarch, Pierce Strider or Reito Sentinel. Any of these three cards can end the game once we get a blinking loop going. But how do we make that loop?

Since Elesh doubles ETBs, if we get two creatures like Felidar Guardian or Restoration Angel that exile and return the card instantly, we can use the first trigger to blink our Exarch/Pierce/Reito, then the second Elesh trigger to blink the other blinker, creating that loop.

Alternatively (or in combination with), we can also chain three Oblivion Ring style effects to exile Exarch/Pierce/Reito, then another effect to exile the O-ring and keep trading them back and forth and getting those game-winning ETBs in the process.

It can be a confusing combo, and you'll need to walk the table through it, but the end result is either completely draining life totals or just removing every opponent's library from the game.

Any of those combos are our finisher, but while we wait for it to reveal itself, we have plenty of other ways to control the board with other doubled-up ETBs. Recursion with Pre-War Formalwear, ramp with Solemn Simulacrum or Gilded Pinions, removal with Werefox Bodyguard, or life and card draw with Inspiring Overseer.

Yorion, Sky Nomad is another option to try instead of Elesh if people get a little salty about the Praetor. You miss out on the doubling, but a mass flicker for all your nonland permanents still gives you a combo piece in the command zone. Then it's up to cards like Delney or Panharmonicon to get you the doubling for the combo.
