So, being a huge fan of combo and loving the Second Breakfast deck I really wanted to keep it alive. Kinda.
Lotus Bloom is one of the most important cards, because it will help keep the combo going adding colored mana to your pool.
Open the Vaults is the replacement for Second Sunrise. While it is no where near as good, it is a great budget card and adds four more Second Sunrise affects minus the land return.
Reshape should generally hit
Chromatic Star
allowing you to draw then fetch. More often than not Reshape will grab Lotus Bloom because the CMC - converted mana cost - is zero, so you only need two blue. This also helps keep the combo going.
Ghost Quarter should hit your own tapped islands allowing you get another untapped island, then when you Faith's Reward you get both lands back. This helps get lands out of your deck and draw those important cards.
Conjurer's Bauble puts your Faith's Reward, Reshape, and Open the Vaults back into the library for reuse. This should be used after a Faith's Reward or Open the Vaults when an
Elsewhere Flask
draw is on the stack. You then use Conjurer's Bauble to put something on the bottom, Ghost Quarter away a tapped land, which shuffles whatever you sent to the bottom back into the library. Then after all that resolves, draw off
Elsewhere Flask
. This can be hard to remember, but it helps get those keep combo cards to keep it going.
Pyrite Spellbomb
is your win-con or way of kill your opponent. Once you have the combo set up, just sac the Lotus Bloom for three red and then use the
Pyrite Spellbomb
and chip away.
Everything else just lets you draw cards and mana fix and should be rather straight forward.
Hope you enjoy the deck, especially if you love combos. Mind you, it won't get as good as when the deck had Second Sunrise, but it is still very playable.
Feedback or recommendations would be awesome! I do not have a sideboard for it yet. I'd like to build one, but I'm not totally sold on anything to put into it.Nevertheless thanks, enjoy.
