Of course Jdvanliew....being new to a site like this is VERY overwhelming; and to be honest, being confident in your deck lists is always a great thing (while at the same time being open to ways to improve). I honestly quite like your deck...it's different than one's I've seen in the past; and I like the idea that Doubling Season functions well no matter what other cards are out (ones that create elf tokens, ones that create counters, and of course your planeswalkers that can instantly go ultimate...). For a new player, there are some really good and complex synergies in there...I can only imagine the decks you are gonna brew!
And no worries on the blurt....there are several people on communities such as this (and any communities for that matter) that are quick to point out things that are "wrong" with a deck or that are good cards against a deck without any constructive criticism; and it can cause any newer member to start out somewhat defensive. You'll find though, that the majority on here really do want to help make decks as good as they can; and it can be a great place to improve on your ideas while meeting great people.
That, and sometimes people just have a weird moment where they say something they wouldn't otherwise say any other time...I've done this more times than I can count! :) So apology accepted....and no worries at all.

And thank you for the +1!
Overfluff....to answer your question...any card can go if there is a better option available. I had it in here for two reasons mainly:
Having an infinite combo tends to throw of the opponent a little. They have to constantly worry that it may come up. I've found a lot of the best decks (Twin, Pod, etc.) have a combo as well as agro win-cons.
It is a great way to win off of a Genesis Wave . I wanted to see if there was a way to win a good portion of the time off of a Genesis Wave at instant-speed. While this requires a non-summoning sick Elvish Archdruid and/or Swiftfoot Boots ; it does happen.
Having said all of this, if there is a more effective card out there; I do want to use it. And you are right that Umbral Mantle is one of the few cards in the deck that can literally be a "dead draw" in many cases...I am 100% open to other ideas...I am trying out Primalcrux as well (as with Swiftfoot Boots off of a Genesis Wave he often is a win-con as well...as he is typically over 20/20 at that point....). Having said this, I am more than open to any other cards and ideas that could improve the overall deck. I love the way you are thinking Overfluff and honestly believe you may be onto something!

It may not be an infinite combo but have you considered Thousand-Year Elixir ? I have only seen this card in EDH play (my girlfriend runs a Captain Sisay Deck) but I know it is incredibly powerful. This way you can play and tap your mana elves on the turn they come in so basically it adds devotion and with archdruid it gets broken. The other benefit is that you can swing with a creature and then untap to block with it too.
Also, what is your feeling on Mercy Killing ? I built a casual elf deck a few years ago and used this as my main kill piece. I personally like it becasue most of the time your opponent's creatures are quite small power wise (maybe 2 or 3) so they don't get much out of it and it also gets around indestructible. But if you use it on something like your Primalcrux suddenly you have a very big army. Follow that up with an Ezuri, Renegade Leader or a Garruk Wildspeaker ult and you get to watch your opponent cringe a bit.

Both of those ideas sound really cool. Mercy Killing seems like a sideboard card to me but could still be insane cause you're creatures are likely going to be bigger than theirs so the 1/1s they get are pretty much useless. And like you said using it on your on large creatures like Primalcrux /Khalni Hydra could also be devastating with your various Overrun abilities. Thousand-Year Elixir seems cool too since (if you played Lightning Greaves ) you wouldn't have to worry about things like not being able to target your creatures plus it has the untap ability which could be great with Elvish Archdruid

I LOVE Thousand-Year Elixir ...I run it in a crazy brew I have (with Bloom Tender , Viridian Joiner , Umbral Mantle , etc.) I'll definitely look into how I could incorporate it into the deck (although it may require a few other smaller changes as well).
Mercy Killing seems really cool...especially at instant-speed. It's an extremely versatile card that I haven't actually ever played in a deck. I do like the situations you've mentioned though (as it does go well with a couple of the ideas in this deck). Ugh...so many good cards :)

That's always the problem with an elf deck. There are like a billion good elf cards and only 60 spaces in the deck. Its totally simple though, you just run three lands and that way you have space for 57 elves :P

CurdBrosBrewingCo says... #13
haha! That's it! If I remove 9 of the lands; that opens up a ton of space! haha.

I mean, it totally works for legacy Taiga Belcher decks:
Belcher (for example)
I don't see why it couldn't work here :P It's simple:
Turn 1
Stomping Ground + Chancellor of the Tangle + Desperate Ritual (x2 obviously)+ Manamorphose (x2 also) + Llanowar Elves + Elvish Archdruid
Turn 2
From here you totally have this.....

Crazybop09....your deck is AWESOME! I +1 of course :)
The only recent thing I've been working with is switching out Khalni Hydra for Primeval Titan . I did so in my other elf deck and it was definitely better...that deck also has Kessig Wolf Run however; so that could be a big difference. Worth a shot though!

Can't wait to see M15 Nissa!!!! Don't know if she is Elf-Centric again, but hopefully she is strong enough to get into Modern Elf Decks!
May 23, 2014 2:19 a.m.
New nissa:
+1: until end of turn, each elf you control has tap; put a 1/1 elf token into play. All elf tokens put into play this turn gain haste and this ability.
because if you don't have infinite elves, you should have infinite elves. And if you have infinite elve, you should get more infinite elves. :P

haha! enpc...elves must always make infinite elves and/or infinite mana! There is no such things as too many elves and/or too much mana.
mateobadajoz2...we're hoping its the new Nissa coming (fingers crossed) in M15. There is no guarantee she's coming in M15; but it is looking somewhat likely. Let's just hope this one is not only playable, but awesome!

I haven't looked at the deck in awhile. It's looking great! I may sleeve this up for the next modern tournament I go to.
Anyway, I was just snooping around on MTG Top 8 and did a search for Wrath of God
. Apparently it's not completely out of the format yet. A lot of UW and UWx control decks have one in the main board and/or one in the side, along with one or two Supreme Verdict
.
The point I'm getting to is Wrap in Vigor isn't good against Wrath of God , but it is good against Pyroclasm , Anger of the Gods , Supreme Verdict , and Day of Judgment .
So I have a question, and I really want to know what you think. Should you keep the 3x Wraps that work against most board sweepers, or should you sideboard something like 3x Fresh Meat and float mana with your tapping elves after they wipe so you get 3/3's to attack with on your next turn?
Fresh Meat is bad against Anger of the Gods. But Wrap in Vigor is bad against Wrath of God. So which card do you think is better?

Hmmm.....this is a tough one dcarpntr....
There are other choices that will deal with all of them (Rootborn Defenses , Ready , Dauntless Escort , etc.), but I really wanted choices that were 1-2 CMC given the speed at which I tend to play this deck. Having said this, I may not always be playing right against control.
I've been playing Swan Song in my other elf deck quite a bit lately which I love; but it plays a little more blue (although it wouldn't be hard to throw another Breeding Pool in for the Pendelhaven ). The only issue there is that it doesn't get around Supreme Verdict ....I love your Fresh Meat idea; it's just difficult to have the 4-mana for it when you need it, and Anger of the Gods is so prevalent now....I feel like Anger of the Gods is still a little more prevalent than Wrath of God currently. It's almost becoming a modern staple!
Board wipes are really the only large issue for this deck...you really could simply play both! In the current board on here, Elvish Champion
is something that can be replaced (as it is kind of a "win more" against green decks (and just makes it pretty easy to beat them)...It''s tough to deal with every board wipe out there; but between the two of them; you shouldn't have too many problems.
I'd love to hear how the deck plays if you play it. Good match-ups, bad ones (hopefully you won't run into any :)

+1 i love both elves and devotion but what about Arbor Elf instead of Elvish Mystic because Arbor Elf can untap Breeding Pool

Would you maybe consider taking out Umbral Mantle ? The combo is obviously really cool but if you don't have the combo together it seems like a pretty dead card. If you take it out you can also remove the 2 Swiftfoot Boots and just add in 4 Lightning Greaves cause 4 of those just seems more consistent than 2 Mantles and 2 Boots
