The only problem with Arbor Elf is that you can only untap forests. So if you played him turn one with Cavern of Souls and second turn your land drop was Horizon Canopy you wouldn't get any benefit from him. Hes an awesome card but the forest count has to be much higher to make him consistently good.

enpc put it pretty perfectly! But you are right, atlantis55555....Arbor Elf is better in most situations over Elvish Mystic ....I actually play him in my current modern deck Modern Elves Pure Ramp because his ability to ramp with with Utopia Sprawl (and it's interaction with Garruk Wildspeaker ) is unreal...in this build, however, part of the "win-con" plan is the Elvish Archdruid infinite combo with Umbral Mantle ...that requires three additional elves, which in turn requires that we play more elves :) Having said this, if you wanted to run Arbor Elf you could easily remove the Pendelhaven and the Horizon Canopy 's (and maybe one Cavern of Souls ) and replace them with Forest . Great idea too. Arbor Elf is SOOO good!

I like running Soul of the Harvest in my Elf-wave deck. don't know if you can find room for it, but it is more efficient than most of your other draw abilities. I also use Elvish Harbinger because if you don't draw the elves you want/need this card helps, and easily pairs with your draw abilities to allow for you to "fix" your next draw with an elf.

why did you go with Swiftfoot Boots over Lightning Greaves, just out of curiosity?

Also, you seem like an experienced player; what's your opinion on how many non forest lands i should run (cavern, nykthos) if i'm running 4 Arbor Elf? Here is my deck, by the way: Elf Pump (30,000+ dmg possible!)

You can't move Umbral Mantle onto a creature equipped with Lightning Greaves because of the shroud, not hexproof. So you make your combo creature more vulnerable because you first have to unequip them. it's also good for the corner case where you only have your combo elf in play already equipped with the greaves, you need another creature to move them to before you can combo off.

I am SOOO sorry it has taken me so long to respond. We had ANOTHER cancer issue (this time it was my brother Gavin) that took us out of commission for a bit. Fortunately, it was all removed and they were able to stitch him back up and he's almost completely healed now. enpc had it perfect though....the only difference is hexproof over shroud. Checking out your deck now!
