I would highly recommend the following:
More mana dorks (Elvish Mystic , Sylvan Caryatid )
Our playgroup actually built our version of this and took it to an FNM... with just the Zhur-Taa Druid , you run into the problem where any removal pretty much wrecks you...
We found that with the other mana dorks + Guttersnipe or Nivix Cyclops , it gives another win-con.

this is wonderful, and I'll be doing my best to make my own copy of it for my playgroup. I'm been looking for a way to break the arcanist for a while, thanks.

If your having trouble against targeted removsl you could add something like Mizzium Skin or if board wipes are giving you trouble you could use something like Mending Touch or if burn spells are your probablem then you should just use Triton Tactics

@dominicd If there were any good tutors I would, Signal the Clans is just to random for me to play it, Commune with the Gods can put some good cards into my graveyard, and I have a lot of scry, card draw, and stall tactics.
@drakanar I had tried that previously but the problem I ran into was that it too many slots in my deck and turned into either needing Elite Arcanist +Triton Tactics and Zhur-Taa Druid (3 card combo, already hard to pull off) or Elite Arcanist +Triton Tactics and Guttersnipe +mana dork (4 card combo) so I pulled it. Honestly I haven't had that much problem with removal, mostly it's been stalling long enough to get the full combo out.
@asasinater13 No problem, always love to spread the brokenness around XD
@Felixlives I've looked into Mizzium Skin and I might look into it again but for now I have Simic Charm and I haven't had that much problem with removal. Mending Touch is in my maybe-board but I haven't had a problem with boardwipes, and yah, I use Triton Tactics to protect my creatures if I need to.

Hey Lord007, I am very new to Magic (as in I don't own a single card, I just visited a friend and he showed me how to play it) and I was wanting to build a deck. I was wondering if the three card combo is like an infinite loop that ends the game if the opponent doesn't have a Cancel or something like that, or if it just repeats every turn for 20 turns? Respond if you can, it would be very much appreciated! And by the way, if that is how it works then that is AWESOME and a very great deck and combo find! Thanks.
November 27, 2013 10:17 p.m.
Hey man, the way it works is explained pretty well in the description, you may just need to learn a bit more magic. Whenever a card is untapped, unless something stops it from tapping, it may tap, no matter how many times it already had this turn. Since Triton Tactics untaps both Zhur-Taa Druid and Elite Arcanist they cant repeat indefinitely. Once you opponent realises what youre doing if they can, they will interrupt your combo by removing one of more of your combo pieces. Thats what the rest of this deck is for. Stopping them stopping you, holding out until you can combo, drawing your combo.

Thanks! That's what I thought was happening but I was not 100% sure.

Have you considered Thoughtflare for card draw?
November 28, 2013 11:40 a.m.
MajesticRutabaga I had not seen that... That will definitely be making it's way into this deck thanks!!
@bi0v0id: Dropbear did a very good job of explaining how it works. Thank you both for your interest in my deck. If you have any other questions I'd love to be able to help you out.
@Dalektable I'm glad you like it. It's so much fun to pull off at FNM against someone who has no idea how it works. The look on their faces is priceless and since they usually end up winning the round I never feel bad about pulling it off.

Holy shit... I may have to play against this. Good deck though. I like it.
December 1, 2013 10:30 p.m.
maybe abuse heroic a bit more with Wavecrash Triton or Triton Fortune Hunter ?
December 1, 2013 10:34 p.m.
@gnarlicide Thanks. Spent a bit of time on this and its so funny to see all combo pieces out G1 of a match and my opponents have no idea that they're about to lose XD
@fijord thanks for your suggestions, I've decided that Elite Arcanist is such a target for removal that I never play him unless I'm about to win or have 2 in hand so abusing heroic isn't something this deck can do.

@Lord007 honestly, i would just keep the Opportunity 's in the deck instead of Thoughtflare . You don't have to discard for one mana. just my opinion. love the deck though. been with this deck since day one (or two, WHATEVER) and shows definite progress.
December 1, 2013 10:51 p.m.
@AJtheConquerer Thanks for sticking with me, for now Thoughtflare actually comes in 2-3 turns before Opportunity because I always seem to miss my 6th land drop.

How have you been fairing at FNMs recently? I have been very fortunate to keep going against heavy aggro decks, only played against 1 esper control, and ended up winning games 2-3. Anger of the Gods is downright amazing against aggro, and easily sideboarded against control. Also, late game it is uninamous choice to discard via Thoughtflare . It will tick your deck total up slightly, but I think it is well worth it. maybe replace the Lightning Strike with it. 1 more mana, to do 3 damage to all of their creatures rather than picking and choosing one. some food for thought :)
December 3, 2013 11:53 p.m.
Khanye I've been to two FNMs with this deck (full descriptions in the updates section of this deck) The most recent one I got 4th at. I tried out Anger of the Gods for a while but I found it to not be that much of a help. I'll put it back in my maybe board though because it is decent and the last time I tried it my mana base couldn't handle the double R in the cost.
December 4, 2013 10:51 p.m.
I've played with Anger of the Gods an its easily one of the best cards against aggro. As he said its not great against control, but playing 2-3 of them could be pretty effective if you have trouble with aggro strategies.
December 4, 2013 10:56 p.m.
The problem with running Anger of the Gods is that I can't put out any of my combo pieces before I can win otherwise Anger of the Gods will kill whatever is already on the field.
December 5, 2013 8:57 a.m.
Good luck, me and a friend tried to make this combo work in standard but we found it to be to weak and not surefire enough to get you to win FMN or most competitive place. As Its a creature combo that requires 3 cards. However, we are sure there is some way to make this work, maybe with in the next few sets or the next block that is release their will be a way to make the combo more consistent.
May you find the answer to make the combo work, or just have fun playing it.
December 5, 2013 5:01 p.m.
Bowl thank, I've found that lots of scry is the best answer and honestly when I go to FNM I except to go 1-3 (assuming 4 rounds) but I go there to have fun because when this does work it's spectacular! And yes.. I already have a permanent tab for BNG spoilers on my computer in hopes of ways to make this more consistent....
December 5, 2013 5:11 p.m.
Thats true about Anger of the Gods . I was thinking about from a control perspective, but I suppose with your combo pieces being so small you'd have to be really careful with it. I personally still like Inspiration over Opportunity for faster draw, but maybe thats just me.
December 6, 2013 1:49 a.m.
I chose the middle ground between Inspiration and Opportunity recently with Thoughtflare and found that it works perfectly.
December 6, 2013 4:38 p.m.
So in my testing of this deck, I've found that Izzet Charm in Thoughtflare 's place works wonders. I get to drop dead cards, dig for my combo pieces, and have the option to counter / kill things that could become a problem. Not to mention that I can play it turn 2 and therefore make the deck faster overall. For extra draw power, though, I am running 2 jace's, who definitely make this deck a lot better.
I also run a mix of 3 Simic Charm , 2 Mizzium Skin . I like the skin because it is easier on the mana, and the +0/1 boost has been relevant in saving my pieces from Anger of the Gods (I had it on a second arcanist, and was able to, between the two arcanists, play it 3 times).

Why not some tutors, like Signal the Clans etc?
