Elspeth, Sun's Champion would suit this deck better imho

Ignore DGwar, Sun's champion is too slow. Replace Sword of Feast and Famine with Sword of Fire and Ice . Eventually you want to upgrade your lands so you aren't stuck with 4 Caves of Koilos as well. I would recommend 23 lands. What is your local meta?

Because you run Hero and Tidehollow, switching the count on Intangible Virtue and Honor of the Pure could benefit you in the long run

Actually he makes a good point. I used to use a 3/2 split favoring Honor of the Pure back when I ran heros.

xzzane - Eventually, if I find myself playing this deck heavily I'll eventually invest in Marsh Flats and flip them in for the Caves of Koilos . This is my first foray into Modern so I'm not entirely familiar with the local meta, though I may find out the hard way that I'm not ready for it. Once I get in there I'll definitely have to adapt, though.

B4D@M4G1C - I'm actually thinking of switching out the Tidehollow Sculler for Castigate to guarantee a removal. Even then, with the Hero of Bladehold I think slipping in another Honor of the Pure would make sense, plenty of opportunities for vigilance running 3 Intangible Virtue - just as xzzane recommended.

Any opinions on Charge Across the Araba or maindecking a Brave the Elements or two?

I tried Charge and I wanna answer your question with a question. What if the charge goes through and you don't kill them.. You lose out on your lands and probably loses I tried running the Charges and it didn't work.

B4D@M4G1C - Yeah, I would think that Charge Across the Araba would be a must kill on use, even if it's hidden under a Windbrisk Heights . If it misses, that's a harsh reset. Great point.

I was in the same situation as you. My advice is to listen to xzzane. He is a very helpful resource

Also I wouldn't run both planes walkers and Hero of Bladehold because it messes with the curve. Also you don't want to have your hand clogged up with three to four four drops and cause you to mulligan. If you choose planeswalkers definitely listen to xzzane. You can also see my deck. It is currently been Deckcycled and is called Modern Event Deck v 2.0.

Keep tidehollow. Despite the chance of them getting the card back, its still better to have the body. Also, I tried out Brave the Elements , and while I liked it, I think that other cards deserve the slots better. And B4D@M4G1C is right, you want to pick heros or walkers. Tokens doesn't run a very high Mana curve, so you want to stay away from too many 4 cmc cards. Also thanks for the high recommendations haha.

No probs dude. Just keep me and my deck in mind as alternative of your deck if someone chooses creatures over planeswalkers

Will do.

Good point on the 4cmc guys. A couple are fine, need a finisher, but four aren't entirely necessary. Removing them will make room for other things.

Yep. Any specific questions you have about b/w tokens? What is your local meta like?

July 30, 2014 9:11 p.m.

bigpappyj says... #15

xzzane - I'm just getting into Modern so I'm not that experienced with the local meta yet. I know that I'll have to adapt once I get knee deep into it.

If the Planeswalkers come out is Brimaz, King of Oreskos a good addition to replace one? Figure he's more tokens and vigilance isn't a bad ability. Also, how critical are you finding fetchlands and Fetid Heath to be?

July 31, 2014 9:45 a.m.

xzzane says... #16

I personally have found brimaz to be rather lackluster. Often times I will prefer a turn 3 Spectral Procession to a turn 3 brimaz. And fetches help a lot, but they can wait for a while if you don't have the money. They're a huge help when playing against people with Blood Moon . True story though, I once won against someone who had blood mooned me by paying 6 Mana for my Spectral Procession . And once you do find out your local meta I can help you with your sideboard more.

Nice Deck

If you want to cast a T1 Thoughtseize or IoK then Marsh Flats is a much better card than Windswept Heath, of course.

deaddrift - agreed, but it's a budget call right now and Godless Shrine can be grabbed if need be.

Nice deck. I would drop 2 Caves of Koilos at least, I think you are covered on fast mana with 6 basics, Urborg, 4 Godless Shrine and 4 fetches. And Isolated Chapel may enter untapped too. Have you considered Shambling Vent?

Thanks, Clawed6. I've actually updated the deck to a Bitterblossom build here:
