Walhart would be proud.
This deck, inspired by Josh Utter-Leyton's Boros Blitz, is engineered specifically to vanquish the potent control decks within the standard metagame. Capable of frequent wins by turn 4, it blends the aggressive strategies of red with the resilience of white. This impermeable combination leads to an offense which decks like Esper and UW simply can't handle.
However, even when not facing a control deck, Walhart's legion is a formidable opponent, as demonstrated in the cards below.
Rakdos Cackler, Soldier of the Pantheon and Firedrinker Satyr all serve the same purpose: Fast brutes who can deal 6-8 damage before falling to a wrath spell.
Boros Elite is similar to the aforementioned 1 drops, but is, as the name implies, elite. With Viashino Firstblade, this soldier is a massive beating.
Firefist Striker: Getting damage through is important, and making opponent's creatures unable to block will aid that endeavor. Albeit control decks play very few creatures, getting past an Obzedat, Ghost Council or Blood Baron of Vizkopa is crucial. Also, it is very effective against opposing aggro decks (which is the main reason for its inclusion).
Gore-House Chainwalker: He enters the battlefield, bashes their face a few times, then dies. That's the whole RDW agenda in a nutshell.
Viashino Firstblade: Every time I think this guy can't get any better, he does. Activating multiple battalion triggers and bashing for 4 on turn three is amazing. Firstblade + Two Boros Elites is almost impossible to come back from if they connect at least once.
Boros Charm: The one-man band. 4 to the face, or salvation from Supreme Verdict. I think I'm in love.
Legion's Initiative: Not only is it even more wrath insurance, it boosts your aggressive red creatures, allowing to slay your opponent that much faster.
Shock: Pretty self-explanatory.
Chained to the Rocks: Fatties like Desecration Demon and Polukranos, World Eater can be problems for this deck if left unchecked. However, they are harmless if chained to a rock.
SIDEBOARD:
The sideboard is mainly constructed to combat aggro, but their are also a bit more control tech.
Boros Reckoner: The Reckoner brick-walls most aggro decks very effectively. No BG dredge deck wants to send their 30/30 Nighthowler into this guy, now do they?
Skullcrack: Mainly for Sphinx's Revelation, but also decent against Blood Baron of Vizkopa.
Chained to the Rocks: A little extra removal.
Blind Obedience: Red Deck Wins can do literally nothing against this card.
Pithing Needle: All sideboards have this card.
Hammer of Purphoros: Extra wrath insurance.
I will be posting FNM results as soon as possible. Thanks for looking!
