-First and foremost I want to thank everyone who has viewed, +1'ed, and commented on this deck. I can't believe how much positive attention this deck has gotten. You guys have helped improve this deck dramatically, and I really appreciate how helpful and awesome this community is!-
Finally got to take this build to FNM! Here's how it played out:
- Game 1: 2-0 vs Mardu Aggro-Discard
This was an interesting deck trying to capitalize with discard via Black Cat and Liliana Vess while swinging with Butcher of the Horde and Bloodsoaked Champion. These were good games, and they went long, but I just had too much removal and discard so he could never stabilize. Won both games without too much worry.
- Game 2: 2-1 vs Mono-Blue Artifacts
Standard artifact deck with Ensoul Artifact, Ornithopter, Darksteel Citadel and the like. He took G1 thanks to landing a couple ensouled Darksteel Citadels. Post SB Silence the Believers ruined everything for him. Then I stalled out the games with removal until the lifelinking zombie hordes were ready. Took the next two games easily.
- Game 3: 1-2 vs Esper Control
This was a control deck featuring Sorin, Solemn Visitor and Elspeth, Sun's Champion as win-cons. Lost G1 pretty badly, as I couldn't draw into the proper removal to get rid of walkers. Post-SB things improved dramatically, I won the next game, and G3 was a close, drawn out game. It came down to him having too many counters and me not having enough discard. I'm pretty happy with how the deck held up, and it's getting much stronger against control post-SB.
- Game 4: 2-1 vs Temur Midrange
Pretty standard Temur list with the likes of Savage Knuckleblade, Heir of the Wilds, and Surrak Dragonclaw. I got mana-screwed and lost G1. Game 2 I won easily by clearing out his hand and then sitting on removal until I needed it while swinging with Sarkhan. Game 3 was closer. He got me to 4 life, but I managed a Whip + Pits to turn the game around. He couldn't come back once I stabilized, and the removal kept coming until he was dead.
So there it is! I'm very happy with how things went, and it was alot of fun. This isn't a deck that will just run over any and all opponents, but I feel like it stands a decent chance in most matchups.
I'm quite happy with Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker, and am thinking I will bump him up to 2, let me know what you guys think!
