Ajani Steadfast ?? He would give the angels the +1/+1, vigilance, first strike, and lifelink ability.

I don't think that he makes enough impact to be worth a spot in this deck. His ultimate is cool, but I can see him sitting as a dead card in my hand for most of the game until I draw into one of my other wincons or until my opponent scoops due to other hate-enchants. He really only works imo in a good creature deck that also happens to play other walkers, neither of which really describe my deck. Even if I do use his ultimate, its not a guarantee that I'll win the game if I for instance never draw into Heliod or SotET and the opponent beats me down with a few 1/Xs (If I fail to stop a beatdown plan). I really wish white had some GOOD draw spells....

Not including Idyllic Tutor is a crime to humanity in this case.

What would you suggest that I take out to include Idyllic Tutor ? I'm thinking that this deck runs more like a control deck that looks to shut down options while waiting to draw into a wincon. A tutor seems like it might just use up a turn not doing much, which is why you don't see many people running Diabolic Tutor or Beseech the Queen in modern even though they have the option to do so. I don't own any, but I'll keep it in mind. Maybe this deck can make use of a tutor card better than others.

Dude nice deck! I made a Bant version a few days before I seen your version. Yours is supreme in every aspect +1 from me

Thanks a lot MurderHood! I think this deck still has merit in a modern world full of people Digging for Treasure on a Cruise through Time lol. I still like to whip this out every other month or so in my local meta, right after they take the enchantment hate out of their sideboards lol.

Ok, if I'm understanding you correctly huschli, you're asking what I do against creatures with lifelink or combos using Vizkopa Guildmage? Suppression Field makes the guildmage and planeswalker abilities cost an additional 2 mana to use, which hurts my opponent a lot who is hoping to get value every turn out of that PW. Runed Halo shuts down whichever attacker I name, and Nevermore helps against the cards that I worry about. Planeswalkers don't plague modern as much as they do in standard, but if I feel like I need additional help against them I bring in additional Oblivion Rings/Banishing Lights as needed.

I've considered using Greater Auramancy, but I've found that most decks that do have a dedicated anti-enchantment card run a sweeper effect, like your Fracturing Gust. Shroud won't save me there, or with cards like Back to Nature, Paraselene, Tempest of Light, or Patrician's Scorn. Fortunately for me, if I were to take this deck to a large tournament, I'd run into very few of those sweepers (I'm pretty sure the modern Ad Nauseum deck uses Patrician's Scorn in the SB, but that's about it since bogles are on the decline). The most common enchantment hate I normally see is when people use Wear / Tear and the random Disenchant or Nature's Claim, but the cool thing about it is unless they're going to win the turn they play their enchantment destruction, I can bounce back with a 2nd copy since this deck is pretty redundant. That being said, I think 1-2 copies may warrant some use in my SB in place of a Day of Judgment or something. I don't own any Greater Auramancy, but I bet I could make space for 1-2 if I had them.

Leyline of Sanctity is the best anti-discard card there is. Hopefully when you playtested there wasn't one in my deck's opening hand you didn't play lol. It's very tough to goldfish against this deck, as naming things with Runed Halo and Nevermore isn't always intuitive. Also I might remind you, that your deck is a Legacy deck when I last looked. (Dark Rituals and such don't exist in modern.) I also find it very odd that you maindeck both Disenchant and Fracturing Gust, and not only that, but your list shows Cranial Extraction in your SB.... kinda weird to draw that in game 1 huh? Unless you're keeping your formats straight, I don't see how playtesting our decks will help you at all.

Just saw that your Duress and Castigate are in your SB as well....

The only other one that I know of that's strictly an enchantment is Ivory Mask. There's another creature that is similar to Aegis of the Gods which is True Believer. Oh I forgot, also there is Solitary Confinement but that card is pretty bad.

have you considered dropping a Sigil of the Empty Throne for a Luminarch Ascension?

January 13, 2015 1:29 p.m.

I have. I just don't own one so I haven't been able to test it out yet. Part of me thinks it's a more risky win condition, as it takes 4 turns of not getting hurt at all before it does anything. With Sigil, I can cast one and play something else immediately for a blocker if I'm in trouble. Sigil is just more consistant (and better in multiples!) than the ascension in this deck I think, but if you have one for trade I'd try it out! Luminarch is way better in commander though ;)

i think it should be a 1 of, so 3 sigil and 1 ascension

Splash black for Phyrexian Arena just wanted to know if that amount of card advantage would help?

murder speaking from experience with enchantress style decks extra card advantage leads to killing yourself by drawing your last card

Oh :/ @tyforthevenom

March 1, 2015 6:39 p.m.

MurderHood- If I do draw into my Endless Horizons, that's all the card advantage this deck ever needs (land+gas every turn). Also this deck doesn't have any lifegain in the MD, so the lifeloss would hurt moreso than in other decks that have more incidental lifegain. As I've played this deck, I've found that card advantage is less important since many of my cards have a higher cmc compared to other Modern decks. A fistful of cards isn't as important if you can only play 1 a turn. Although tyforthevenom means well, I'd classify this deck more as a prison deck than enchantress, and rather than losing via decking myself I'm more likely to lose to my own Phyrexian Arena lifeloss while waiting to draw into a wincondition than anything else if I were to add them into the deck. I appreciate the suggestion though!

Can Lightmine Field work? I mean it completely shuts off Splinter Twin and any random aggro deck with X/1s, Lingering Souls tokens die to it and it's akin to removal I guess. Do you think it would improve game one against any decks?

March 2, 2015 8:16 a.m.

Hmmm, I've not seen that one before. Id think that if I were to use it, it would be a SB card against the decks you've mentioned. Ghostly Prison and Suppression Field both shut down Twin well enough already, and sometimes I win via making loads of tokens with Heliod, God of the Sun and an active Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx which would be hurt by my own Lightmine Field (killing my own heliod tokens). I appreciate you turning my attention to it though and I'll give it some thought.

OKay @GeminiSpartanX I just really like this deck, and I'm doing my best to try to help bc it's really cool. Have you playtested it against many modern decks?

March 2, 2015 3:32 p.m.

@MurderHood- I have tested it against many Modern decks, and it runs surprisingly good against many of them. Infect on the play is very tough to beat, but I have good records against Twin, Tron, Merfolk, tokens, and Zoo. It's so/so against burn, since that matchup all depends on whether I get Leyline of Sanctity early enough or not. Same goes for heavy discard decks like Jund or Abzan, since if they can rip away the right enchants from my hand before a Leyline than the game can be pretty tough, but normally they themselves are slow enough that I can lock them out before they kill me so I'd rather face them than burn. Pod used to be a tough match since they could tutor for creatures that destroy enchants, but now that it's no longer a modern deck I feel like this deck is well-positioned in the metagame. I've never tested it against Bogles or Scapeshift since nobody in my local meta runs those decks, but I know I have the tools to beat them (Porphyry Nodes doesn't target which kills bogles, and nevermore naming Scapeshift as well as Leyline against Scapeshift decks).

@tyforthevenom- Flagstones of Trokair is normally good in mono-white, but I don't want to run more non-basics due to the interaction with Endless Horizons. The few non-basics I do run are pretty essential (scrylands for card selection, Nykthos for ramp) so I think this is a rare instance where my deck wouldn't appreciate the searching/thinning that Flagstones would give (not to mention make me weaker to Blood Moon, not that any sane person would side that in against a mono-colored deck lol). I am considering adding a 2nd Endless Horizons since I rarely lose if it resolves due to the CA it provides.
