Reanimator Deck with an affinity for ETB abilities.
Spells for Grave filling:
Spells for Recovery included:
-
Obzedat's Aid
- pay 5, put your buried bad boy straight to the battlefield from the graveyard.
- Rescue from the Underworld - instant played at opp's endstep, creature required to do the designated driving.
All Stars with amazing ETB abilities
- Sylvan Primordial - 6/8 creature, destroy target noncreature perm, and if you do, dig yourself an extra land, son. This is a great answer for enchants, artifacts, lands, etc.
- Ashen Rider - Exile something coming AND going. 2 for 1
- Lord of the Void - Mill 7 and I'll take any creature you discard, now.
Other Creatures:
Giant Adephage
- Amazing card. 7/7 trampler who, when deals damage to the player, puts a token of himself onto the battlefield. EXCELLENT whip fodder, because it has great staying power !!
Considered but Eliminated:
I thought about
Skarrg Goliath
, a 9/9 trampler, but he didn't have good enough ETB to see play. He bloodrushes for 7, though (9/9 + trample til end of turn)!
I also thought about bringing
Nemesis of Mortals
for early game presence, but never saw a need.
Desecration Demon
is better, imo.
Abhorrent Overlord was considered, but only for whipping in, as to avoid his mandatory sacrifice at upkeep.
Nighthowler was considered, but never saw play. Too conditional.
Necropolis Regent
seemed like an awesome idea, but never saw play. Just didnt fit with the ETB needs of this deck.
I didn't want to use any cards that put things back in my hand. I wanted the buried cards to go right into action, because the point of bringing them back was not to cast their very expensive costs! So Jarad's Orders and
Pharika's Mender
were eliminated from consideration.
Trying to remember what else I featured in this deck....
This was a FNM deck that I played for a couple of weeks, and it was quite fun, when it worked :)
