No Mercy for defense

Thanks for the suggestions venok and Mandalorian.

I was mostly looking to remove cards rather than include some, especially since some of the cards given as suggestion I own but plan to include in my other EDH decks (not created yet).

Mandalorian, your advice for card removal was helpful and is what I was primarily looking for. It allowed me to choose a few cards to be replaced with lands.

I'm removing:

  • High Priest of Penance, because Beloved Chaplain is a better "wall" or defensive card and is easier to cast.
  • Armageddon, because I have too many land removal affects (you mentioned all 3). The other 2 still serve a purpose other than just being land removal (creature and self removal).
  • Spirit Loop, because I agree to an extent. However, both Spirit Link and Vampiric Link can be used on opponent creatures, effectively making the player think twice before attacking or blocking. Spirit Loop should be used in a more attack base creature set up, and I believe it will find a spot in my planned Mardu edh deck.

All will be replaced with swamps.

A powerful card Norrak72, but expensive. Actually, I'm not currently willing to spend that much on that card right now (there are other cards that have my attention). Though if I do get my hands on it, it might not enter this deck. I would be more willing to put it in my planned Sen Triplets deck.

Thanks for the suggestions, I will add Orzhov Guildmage to the maybe list. I am considering the removal of Elbrus, the Binding Blade  Flip, but I am not sure if I will replace it with the Guildmage or an extra land.

Though I might even remove Shattered Angel too...
