The focus of this deck is board wipe then turn non-creature permanents into creatures to help trigger Battalion on Tajic.

Creatures aren't bad, but they're simply too easy to get removed. Such as -X/-X, wraths, spot removals, and many more. The ephemeral permanents are to compensate this since Tajic is in need of creatures to do the great thing, and keeping the board with low creature count seems to be the only move available in this colour combination.
