Perhaps Precinct Captain ?

I've tried him out and I'm just not impressed. For 2 white mana we have Elite Inquisitor , who has prot zombies and vigilance, both are very relevant abilities. The ability to make a 1/1 dude is pretty insignificant in this deck.

I really liked the captain at first but he's just failing to give me a reason to play him over the Elites. I guess they can be paired together, and in a pinch I could take out the smiters for precinct captains. Obviously the first strike is the main reason I would want him, with the flail. It feels like I have a gulf between the 1 drop, 2 drop dudes, and then i'm basically waiting for a Silverblade Paladin to make whatever I already played with a flail/rancor on it a huge threat. That might be unfair as let's face it, only one card is handing out doublestrikes.

Cannot believe I haven't been considering Strangleroot Geist . He's just awesome here.

I would go 50/50 and drop two Elite Inquisitor s for two Precinct Captain s.

What does the captain offer me to drop the inquisitors? In my view, zombies are the most powerful deck out there, so I'm not understanding what the captain has to offer me.

I re-read my comment and realise it could be taken as derision. I'm genuinely interested in whether there's a reason behind suggesting him over the inquisitors, or what your thinking on him is.

I am finding the double mana costs problematic. I may well want to remove the Strangleroot Geist s and use Precinct Captain s instead. First strike is relevant enough and not having double green AND double white 2 drops means I can be a little more sure where I want my manabase.

Maybe drop one or both of the Armada Wurm s for Angel of Serenity ? It will cost an extra mana but you also can remove blockers and it has flying.

Hi, thanks for the comment!

I don't have any angels and really, I don't think I need them. Between Rancor , War Falcon and Restoration Angel I can go over or through defenders with ease. Even the Armada Wurm is feeling too much like win-more at the moment. I'm thinking my curve ought to top out at 5 mana.

My playtesting is limited thus far, but it seems anything not aggro I can beat down super fast. Anything aggro, I won't get to 7 mana., one way or another. But if the format slows down and control decks become more prevalent, I'll keep that in mind!

If you are having trouble with aggro decks perhaps invest in some cards with detain like Azorius Arrester or Martial Law . Anyway, I will keep an eye out for anything that might help. This looks like a fun deck that I might have to try out sometime.

I thought about it but the problem with the arrester is that he's not relevant after you drop him, and a turn 2 detail is pretty useless. Most of my cards don't care if there are blockers.

So far my problems with aggro was the jund zombies, specifically Falkenrath Aristocrat s. I've put in a third Oblivion Ring, and I think that two Thragtusk s ought to give me the lifefgain I need to put me out of reach of other aggro. I just need to get them...

I'm thinking that the Oblivion Ring s would be better in the sideboard to bring in against threats I see in round 1. In their place, I could run Selesnya Charm , or Titanic Growth (which would be one heck of a KO with flail or doublestrike or both).

Decided to go with Zealous Strike . The power boost is good, I'm more likely to have white, and enough of my creatures don't have first strike that it becomes relevant.
