This is the current Esper control deck that I am playing with in Standard. I know that it can be improved, and I would be thankful for any advice or input. However I don't have a lot of money, so please don't go to wild with suggestions. Most of these cards currently in the deck I have acquired from packs or through trading. The cards in my maybe board are what I am looking for to add to this deck.

This deck is for the most part is like any other good control deck. Counter spells to spare. Creature destruction like Doom Blade and Supreme Verdict. Duress and Thoughtseize to take targets when they are still in your opponent's hand. Detention Sphere because why not?

Erebos, God of the Dead, Sphinx's Revelation and Bident of Thassa are great for card draw, but to just say that isn't giving them enough credit.

• Erebos, God of the Dead is great to have because it locks down your opponent's life gain, and also its a indestructible 5/7 if you have enough devotion.

• Sphinx's Revelation because card draw and life gain at instants speed, pppfft sure okay.

For creatures the stars of the show are Nightveil Specter and AEtherling.

• AEtherling himself can win you the game, but he is more of a late game creature.

• Nightveil Specter gives three devotion three devotion to black for devotion for Erebos, God of the Dead, and it can be played with either black or blue mana.
