Ertai Counter and Destruction EDH

Commander / EDH Blink Clone Control Flash UB (Dimir)

Maybeboard

An original deck made by me based around Ertai Resurrected from Dominaria United, flickering/blinking to counter spells, activated abilities, and triggered abilities, or destroying creatures and planeswalkers. Copying Ertai also sees the copies come into play, triggering the copy's ETB effect, before it dies due to the Legendary rule. Opponents may be drawing cards like crazy from this, but I can just keep countering whatever they try to play with more flicker/blinking and copying.

I can also just steal whatever my opponents manage to play and kill off their own copies of those cards.

With perpetual counters of various kinds, my board state will be pretty safe from boardwipes, other counter-spells, etc.

DECK STILL HIGHLY WIP.

In playtesting it has done well, added in a couple cards to help deal with artifacts and enchantments since Ertai can't destroy them (so Meteor Golem, Venser, Shaper Savant, and Aether Channeler). In the case of Venser and Aether Channeler, I'll just bounce things back to hand so I can counter them later.

I need to find holes for Consecrated Sphinx and Notion Thief as they fit in too well, along with Sheoldred, the Apocalypse, Fate Unraveler, Ob Nixilis, the Hate-Twisted, and Underworld Dreams, to turn all that card draw they'll have into damage. To make things worse for my opponents due to the amount of copies of my commander that will be dying, I am considering adding things like Grave Pact, Dictate of Erebos, Butcher of Malakir, Dark Prophecy, Grave Betrayal, Pitiless Plunderer, and other things like that.

Glaring Spotlight and Detection Tower need to go in too so that I can target something that might be hexproof otherwise I start loosing viable targets. I added a bunch of bounce spells too to the maybeboard which can help me deal with indestructible creatures to force them to be replayed (and then countered) later.

I'm also going to also start borrowing heavily from Jimmy's Sakashima/Tevesh deck for ideas too.

Main combos:

Basalt Monolith or Grim Monolith, plus Rings of Brighthearth (or a much longer version is either of the Monoliths + Phyrexian Metamorph + Training Grounds) for infinite mana.

Deadeye Navigator paired with Ertai Resurrected means I can counter/destroy for , with Training Grounds that becomes just .

I could add Urza, Lord High Artificer to pair with Deadeye Navigator (plus Training Grounds again) for infinite mana and constructs (that are /), but I'd like the deck to actually do the thing instead of rely on that to win as it has nothing to do with the deck's theme.

And of course there's all of the copies that become nonlegendary versions of Ertai so that I can just make tons of him and they get to stay in play as attackers/blockers.

And thus the win-con (for now) is just turn sideways either with a bunch of Ertais completely unapposed and/or steal people's better creatures, kill their original, and go sideways.
