To answer your question, usually about 3 Mana Leak 3-4 Remand and 4 Cryptic Command is were you wanna be at. So I would cut the Dissipate for a Mana Leak. Also have you considered Geist of Saint Traft. It is cheaper that AEtherling and doesn't require much more mana investment after cast. If you go that way move the Baneslayer Angels to sideboard and cut the AEtherling and 1-2 Detention Spheres then add 3-4 Geist of Saint Traft. Other than that if you can afford it fetch lands and shocks or maybe ever a Sword of War and Peace and you are golden. Like the deck +1

Geist of Saint Traft would be good. sword is a little to agro for me. I have faced a bit of control in my meta and the ling is nice as a 1 of when i have mana open for anti leak and a counter to counter their counter. I have been finding recently that leak is a little little and a little too late. But early game is where i am weak so it may be a good idea to have more off.

Attempting a new idea. replacing my 1 off Baneslayer Angel with Restoration Angel. I believe the utility will be useful, and an instant speed wincon is also nice.

i have considered. my biggest issues if i tend not to need more than 1 white source, so it just becomes take 2 damage or slow land.

I'd drop the Wurmcoil Engine for another Restoration Angel. Resto angel is great with Wall of Omens and Snapcaster Mage and the interaction will be much more useful than the 6 cost creature. You're already running 2x Batterskull which is better in this deck due to costing less and the ability to replay it over and over. Another deck type you might be interested in if you love blue control type decks is U-Tron. The Age of U|Tron is my deck and what I play at FNM. It's about as controlley as it gets and I love it. Anyways, this deck looks fun to pilot, GL!

thanks! I am currently testing out Restoration Angel so i am a bit hesitant on going for a 2 of. Wurmcoil Engine can also get hit by my own board wip and leave something behind. This being said, having a 6 drop that i play as a sorcery without a ETB effect is very clunky.

how so? my plan for winning the mirror is sticky minions.
April 12, 2015 7:57 p.m.
Historically control mirrors are won by the player who lays land every turn. That's why you see control decks with 26-27 lands even though they have a CMC avg under 3.0
April 12, 2015 8:49 p.m.
consider Ojutai's Command for the shinanigans Ojutai's Command + Snapcaster Mage + Wall of Omens

Flooded Strand becomes more useful with Hallowed Fountain which I think is hovering around the current price of Flooded Strand.
April 13, 2015 10:05 a.m.
I would go down on Remand. They are more of a tempo card then a control card, I would switch it for some kind of hard counter. Perhaps Rune Snag or Condescend
April 27, 2015 9:52 p.m.
I will have to disagree with you. A tempo card is amazing for this kind of deck. Remand is amazing at what it does, it filters and turns your opponent into land, go. It effectively prolongs the game AND filters. I can not think of a more fitting card in this deck.

You need 4x Hallowed Fountain. End of story. You also need 4x Flooded Strand. Without them, you'll be nowhere near consistent enough to get the colors you need.
Also, Temple of Enlightenment is generally bad. I would try to replace it with some lands and jam some Anticipates, because it's an awesome card to cast on your opponent's end step without making you tap out on your turn.
April 28, 2015 11:05 p.m.
Without Turn one plays, Temple of Enlightenment is a great card. The bad part is it has to compete with Celestial Colonnade for Turn one plays, and Celestial Colonnade is a great card.
April 29, 2015 8:45 a.m.
A lot of people are saying that i need Hallowed Fountain. while I do agree that Temple of Enlightenment is weak, i do not see the need for 4 of shocks 4 of fetch. by turn 4 i need 2 white for Supreme Verdict , OR 3 blue for Cryptic Command. that being said, i will probably replace 2 temple for 2 shock.
April 29, 2015 12:56 p.m.
Not 4 shocks, but if you're running Flooded Strand, running 1-2 Hallowed Fountain lets you fix your mana, while without shocks, Flooded Strand is just either an island or plains.

Dragonlord Ojutai is an amazing Win Con especially paired with Minamo, School at Water's Edge. Vendilion Clique can do some decent beating, chump blocking, taking opponents combo pieces out of hand, or getting rid of dead cards in yours. Academy Ruins with Engineered Explosives makes people cry in a lot of decks. Since Spell Snare is the only 1CMC card you have, you could board them out in certain matches for two Chalice of the Void and make people cry even harder :). Just some suggestions. I'd recommend playtesting any of them before making final choices of course
May 12, 2015 8:44 p.m.
i have considered sideboarding Chalice of the Void. Academy Ruins is something i would consider, along with Ghost Quarter if i were to fix my mana more. I do not get the hype around Dragonlord Ojutai. And yes, my good friend Vendilion Clique; he is to much money ATM. Honestly, i personally think my next move with this deck would be to splash black for hand disruption and more efficient kill. Black also has nice sideboard for some of my bad match ups.

Mystic Gate could help fix your mana. Makes it easier to hit the UUU needed for Cryptic Command. Dragonlord Ojutai is absolutely amazing. You'd have to play with/against him to really understand, but he's a 5/4 flier that can't be taken out right away (minus sweepers), and when you attack with him next turn, you'll generally have the counters needed against their removal, and he will Anticipate you into whatever you need when he hits. Vendilion Clique from MM2 can be preordered for $50 right now, same price as cryptic if you wanted to pick 1-2 up in case they jump again. Anyways hope the deck works well! We don't see enough control in modern

Tappedout out had freaked out when I wrote a really long explanation on why Dragonlord Ojutai is amazing, those dang Ornithopters! Breaksk8r1992 got most of it though.

OK. that clears it up quite well. thank you guys for explaining that up.

Run a Narset, Enlightened Master and Think Twice to draw through your deck. Dragonlord Ojutai is also a great call. Wurmcoil Engine is inferior to other options (Baneslayer Angel, Ojutai, Batterskull) because it costs 6 mana, and once you land a win condition, you no longer need to wipe the board, because you'll just win.
In the sideboard, take out Kataki, War's Wage. You don't want creatures. All of the Kor Firewalker should be Timely Reinforcements. You generally don't want creatures at all in the sideboard, save Spellskite, which is absolutely necessary, and perhaps a narrow win condition.

OK, i am looking for an opinion on hard counter vs soft counter. how much is to much of either? Should i run more hard? more soft?
