kameenook You're not turning on their removal. They've either wasted it on Snapcasters, or got rid of it. Besides, you've got a world of counterspells.
Run the full 4 Celestial Colonnade, too. They are necessary. 25-26 land is the right number, so take out the weaker cards for more land.

JexInfinite, your opponent is not likely to Dismember your Snapcaster Mage when they can just Abrupt Decay it, then they still have Dismember to take care of your Baneslayer Angel. Control threats are about being resilient, not being fast.

Narset, Enlightened Master is not really the kind of card i want to run. I do not like america colors and would much rather go into esper. I also playtested Baneslayer Angel, while it was effective, Wurmcoil Engine was a lot better and a lot more resilient in most match ups. Think Twice, in my opinion, is overall worse than Remand. and i do wipe the board after dropping a wincon; it is just a chance for my opponent to try and get his thing on the board while i have less mana. Kor Firewalker is amazing. i expect my opponent to cast more than 6 burn spells, and i would prefer an 2/2 pro red too 3 1/1's. Dragonlord Ojutai is something i need to play with, and i will probably trade for some Spellskite's whem mm2 comes out.

And the point about the land is valid. This being said, 2 more Celestial Colonnades may be too clunky.
May 16, 2015 9:57 p.m.
also, JexInfinite what would you consider some of the weaker cards?

Playing 4 Colonnades is not clunky, even in my 4 colour deck.
Wurmcoil Engine is a weak card, especially with Abzan running lots of Paths, and Twin ignoring it completely. The second Batterskull also feels a bit weak, but I feel you need it against aggro, or another Restoration Angel. Wall of Omens is good against aggressive decks, and without Bolt, you can't really deal with it well, so keep them.
Detention Sphere is an interesting one. On one hand, you need all the removal you can get, but on the other, you have 3 Wraths, and 4 Paths, so maybe having 3 D Spheres is better.

JexInfinite how is Wurmcoil Engine any weaker than Baneslayer Angel to paths?

Baneslayer is more mana efficient. That makes it a better choice.

JexInfinite, I'd say it's more personal preference. I'd run Wurmcoil Engine over Baneslayer Angel just because Wurmcoil is much stronger against any deck that doesn't use Path, because the opponenet will have to use 3 removal spells, or two sweepers which is a definite card advantage, but that's just from the meta where I'm at. There's a lot of Abzan, and they don't run Path. If you want to try a deck that is U/W control, and very, very strong, check into this.
I've made a few changes, but the original primer is in the description, it shows some amazing interactions with the cards and you feel awesome playing it since one of your main counters is also a flying beater hehe

@Breaksk8r1992: Abzan does run Path, mostly because the mets requires them to.

Ah I see. Haven't been to an IQ since January, and back then they weren't running them. Yeah I see 1-3 in most decks now, my bad. All the more reason why I feel that Scornful Sprites is amazing in the current meta.
@naterino, another option is to swap a couple of lands to go Esper. You gain access to Esper Charm, Lingering Souls, Creeping Tar Pit, Inquisition of Kozilek, Thoughtseize, and you can sideboard 3x Gifts Ungiven, 1x Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite, 1x Iona, Shield of Emeria, and 1x Unburial Rites to add a sexy combo game 2. Gifts Ungiven for Unburial Rites and whichever creature you need at opponents end of turn, then flashback to bring the creature to the battlefield and take over :D Esper also gives access to Blood Baron of Vizkopa which already has protection from 90% of removal spells in the format, and having him repeatedly chump block a Siege Rhino that can't damage it and gain you life is pretty sweet.

Nice deck. Esper all day +1.
I know you like your counter magic, but I would tighten the list a bit by running 3 Remand, 2 Mana Leak, and 3 Cryptic Command. With the 3 free spots I would add in 2 Inquisition of Kozilek and 1 Lingering souls.
I would also run 2 less lands and maybe run 2 more lingering souls. You'll be good with 24 lands.
I also like another Tasigur over the 1 Resto Angel, but the Resto Angel is good either way.
When I play Resto Angel over Tas is when I run the Meddling Mage + Snapcaster Mage + Tidehollow Sculler package so that I may blink their abilities; it provides heavy control but still pretty aggro. This is a good deck running that package: Esper Twix (Featured by Ali Aintrazi - TCG Player). I also run Esper mid-range control (tokens), and I often finish on turn 5 or 6. My deck is Mentors of the Lost Arts. You should check out both for some ideas or inspiration maybe (:

i could see running 24 lands, less Remand and less Mana Leak. i cannot give up my 4 of Cryptic Command though. I have never reached turn 4 and nto wanted to see Cryptic Command. anytime past when it can be cast, i always like seeing it in my hand. I am a bit iffy when it comes to Lingering Souls. 3 mana sorcery speed to put it in the bin seems very slow to me. Inquisition of Kozilek has been doing well for me, and tasigur has been doing decently.

took a small break from this. yea, i need Esper Charm. am currently looking at what to change.
June 24, 2015 10:58 p.m.
when i add in some more hand disruption, and esper charms i will take off a couple remands. Detention Sphere is very nice when i have a meta that i do not know a ton about, but when i get a better idea i will start weaning off the spheres. Until then, Detention Sphere is good in almost all matchups. idealy i replace them with Spellskites in the future

I don't think you realize how good Esper Charm is. Drawing two is amazing, but making your opponent discard two at instant speed is extremely OP! Imagine your opponent has one card in hand and you pass the turn to him. He untaps, then draws his card for turn, leaving him with two cards in hand. During his draw step you cast esper charm, emptying his hand before he knows what hit him! You may not think Mind Rot is very good, and you are right, but instant speed Mind Rot with the option of being an instant speed Divination is incredible. Esper Charm is the reason you play esper control over grixis or UWR. Run 4, you naive child! Run 4! Esper Charm!
August 12, 2015 11:54 p.m.
side note to Esper Charm, it hits Blood MoonDaybreak Coronet (most things in boggles) Choke Rest in Peace and general sideboard hating on blue.
August 14, 2015 9:22 p.m.
listen to naterino! He is 100% correct! Esper Charm has three super relevant abilities and is instant speed! Esper Charm!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This deck looks similar to mine except with creatures. Check it out at Esper-ience the Taste of Victory.

wanted to give credit where credit is due. Used this deck as inspiration for a deck that i took to GP San Antonio over the weekend. Personal record was 5-1. Team didn't do so well, but the deck did outstanding so this list gets a +1 from me.

Baneslayer Angel is nice, but you're turning on removal in your opponent's deck that they weren't using, if Wurmcoil Engine turns on that removal they turn on your card advantage.
