With Narset Transcendent entering the meta, Blue-white receives an awesome boost to its control aspect. I personally am super excited to get my hands on her. This is what I think she Offers:

Narset Enlightened

  • With the extra card draw of the +1 activated abilities to possibly look for answers is decent, especially in the face of a smaller creature with a loyalty of 7.

  • just as easily, you can -2 her to 4 loyality in the face of two creatures to remove one, and provide impending removal for a second.

  • Not that the ultimate ability would go off often, but the emblem would restrict some key play that your opponents rely on.

Switching this deck, which was originally a dimir control deck, to esper, Crux of Fate was switched to End Hostilities, and Utter End was also added to deal with literally anything but Animated lands (yes, do not forget Nissa, Worldwaker means business if left unanswered.

With the addition of new dragons, which may or may not see play, Crux of fate will only be able to hit some of the creatures on the board, not all of them. It already does not address Stormbreath Dragon which does see play over most of the other dragons in the current meta.

Also now that the deck is Esper, we see a return of Elspeth, Sun's Champion, as on Turn 6, it can definitely effect the board immediately, either with 3 1/1 chump blockers, applying a turn clock, or by destroying all 4+ power creatures, possibly taking out an unanswered Siege Rhino that is threatening 4 more damage on top of the already 3 from ETB.

Aside from the white cards that are new additions to this control deck, here are the other spells that lay within:

Black Spells: Removal and Knowledge

  • Thoughtseize - T1 1 for 1 that costs me 2 life. I bet you wouldn't have kept this 4 land hand if it didn't have this card

  • Bile Blight - possible T2 removal that can hit multiple multiple goblins tokens, monk tokens, Pesky Lions, and a number of 3 drops as well, except for maybe Brimaz, King of Oreskos and Courser of Kruphix, but...

  • Ultimate Price - Two mana Instant speed removal that hits many of the relevant threats that are in this meta, which kills many creatures that are even T5+ that Bile Blight wouldn't be able to handle alone.

  • Hero's Downfall - the Go-to un-biased removal spell that hits creatures and planeswalkers at instant speed - nothing like removing their biggest threat that they spent a whole turn to cast.

Major Blue spells My favorite, Yum

  • Disdainful Stroke - I almost can't wait for my opponents to tap that fourth land just so that i can say Nope, not this time. Bye Bye Whip, Dig, Treasure Cruise, Master of Waves, SB Dragon, Ugin, or really just about most late game finishers.

  • Dissolve - honestly probably my 3rd favorite Theros Card, next to Thoughtsieze and Ashiok (God i cannot wait to learn more about his story Hint Hint WoTC). Besides, what's better than saying no to plays on your turn? Fixing my draw for next turn too do it all again. you just keep rollin the dice until you hit that land drop. ; )

  • Dig Through Time - There are reasons as to why this card was banned in modern... its pretty freaking fantastical. Nuf said.

  • Jace's Ingenuity - Draw 3 instantly? i can't complain to much.

  • Pearl Lake Ancient - Sorry guys, only got 40 minutes to play up to three matches, and I gotta end the game sometime or another. Yeah yeah he is expensive to bring back to the hand, but he really knows how to seal the deal.

And So Special that he receives his own Section: The colorless; the endless

  • Ugin, the Spirit Dragon - What a brilliant concept for a control based Walker. I love him so much, i want one in every EDH deck. Of Course sacrificing my own things isnt great in most circumstances, it really can bring a game back from a losing point. He can do the same exact thing here in a standard control deck. "-6 please". yes, that has won me the game with a Pearl Lake Ancient Swinging 7 for exactly game. so beautiful, i wish i recorded it.

Where the help is needed:

  • Sideboard finalization and using the right amount of copies of each card in the mainboard. (Which ones should be played less or more? Should Bile Blight remain a 2 of? Is 1 Ugin Enough? 27 lands to many?)

  • How useful will each card be in 8/10 most common match up?

  • Which match ups will likely the hardest to deal with? Mirror match (Yikes)?

Really, open to all thoughts and suggestions. Honestly, everything and anything is up for challenge.

(by the way if anybody can help me to understand to get a picture to show up, that would be awesome. I cannot figure it out for the life of me - thanks again)
