My updated Esper Control list - this is not an original deck idea - so I'm not claiming to have invented UWx control. I love playing control and I'm a sucker for a 4 mana sweeper and some mill, so here I am. I don't play at anything much bigger than an FNM, so the list may not be super tuned. In my opinion the core of the deck is Supreme Verdict, Sphinx's Revelation, Azorius Charm, Think Twice, and Snapcaster Mage. Beyond those 23 cards, the rest is whatever a person wants to do with it. Creatures-wise, I played for awhile with Augurs and Restoration Angels, but I really like how the deck has evolved from 10 creatures to 3. The only questions left to answer have to do with the 4th Snapcaster and whether or not AEtherling has a role in the main. In the rest of the deck, I am pleased with the move from 4 sweepers to 6 in the main. It feels more like a control deck now. Terminus is a great addition - it's easily in my top 10 favorite cards of all time. I wasn't sold on the spot removal up until now, but I really like Warped Physique, Far/Away, and Renounce the Guilds. Adding Renounce the Guilds prompted the move from Detention Spheres to Oblivion Rings. So, between the increased spot removal and the 3 counterspells, there should be an answer to just about everything. And with 12 card draw cards and 3 Snapcasters, it shouldn't be too hard to find the right card at the right time. And casting a Crypt Incursion after having casted Verdict and milling a few times can just be back breaking - I've gone from single digit life totals to over 30 with it. Dragon's Maze really gave this deck a lot of new options. The sideboard is a work in progress and the maybe board is just some ideas for fun FNM variants. Let me know what you think!
