Thank you for your input! Planar Cleansing is there as a 1of so that I can take out any potential Planeswalkers, Enchantments, or artifacts that are being extra pesky. For instance, I wipe out Huntmaster of the Fells Flip , Garruk, Primal Hunter , Liliana of the Veil , 1 3/3 beast token, and 1 2/2 wolf token all in one spell. I dunno why I would ever let Jund get that insane on the board. But desperate times call for Planar Cleansing ;) and Shrivel is there against aggro weeny decks. if I can kill Boros Elite , Lightning Mauler , Spike Jester , or Stromkirk Noble , then I'm happy. Who knows, maybe the spell will be dead too often and I'll take it out. I'm already tempted to put in Doom Blade . And while I do love Mind Sculpt , it isn't as effective as some of the other spells in my deck. I'd rather wait for Jace, Traumatize , and Mind Grind while I wipe the board and mill using Nephalia Drownyard. Or if my Phantasms are doing work, then that's when I'll attack/block

I feel like the drownyards are slow, to be honest. I like many of the concepts, including using quicken to double up your turns. Overall pretty good job. Did you consider the use of Reap Intellect ? What do you feel about them?

@malfeischylde The drownyards are far from my win con. They are supplementary if I have nothing else to do on a turn. And they DO work in the long run with a control deck. Reap Intellect is an AMAZING card. I have one in the sideboard if you didn't notice. And I will most definitely be siding it in against midrange and control matchups. It's only good if the game goes longer and your opponent has a deck that maintains a larger hand with good card advantage.

Ah, yeah, I missed it. I had them main boarded, but then removed them, too, for the same reasons. Cool.

I love the combo built on Jace and the new planeswalker rules. It's absolutely brilliant and I haven't seen anyone else take it to that level yet. But isn't Traumatize still illegal? Or is it legal because of its reprint in M14?

So...I took out Mind Grind for one very important reason...I wanted my 4th Sphinx's Revelation back and I wanted a second Traumatize . In my playtesting, I have found that casting Traumatize twice is devastating because it means I will probably only need one Jace, Memory Adept 0 to occur in a match to mill the opponent. With 2 Traumatize and two Snapcaster Mage , this is almost certain to happen. I have also added the AEtherling x2 because he is control's best wincon as of now. Changed the sideboard a little. I think this is looking better already...feedback would be awesome

drop the Smite in the sideboard, you only have 2 blockers total. also think about more Terminus over Supreme Verdict the biggest reason for this is board wipes are becoming less efficient with undying. thragtusk, and voices, so this just gets rid of both.
also a little help with my deck with this question, game 1 i mill with aberrations, so game 2 you bring in the obvious Rest in Peace and I use AEtherling in game 2; would you keep the RIP or side them out for game 3?

To be honest...I would never worry about the aberration as a real threat to my deck. If I let it kill me then I deserve to lose lol. The Smite s are in there to side in WITH Lingering Souls only against heavy creature decks. The ability "Undying" is about to block shift away in October and so will Thragtusk. And back to the sideboard question, I think AEtherling is always the better option over the Aberration mainly because of his ability to stay alive essentially forever. Jace, Memory Adept and Mind Grind hit much harder if your goal is to mill your opponent. This is also considering you are running Esper and not Dimir.

Oh so you're just prepping for rotation?
It's dimir control (until rotation), I built it with some cipher play on stalkers+hands of binding and the aberration is to get the mill triggers. But with ways for your opponent to get benefits from their graveyard like Deathrite Shaman I like the lings to backup. I mostly couldnt afford more jace's and mind grind versus control is eh.

To avoid confusion for anyone following this deck: This used to be called "Jace's Esper Control." I changed the name and description once I top'd with the new list.

Solid deck man. I watched you play some of that G/R deck in round one where you pulled Sphinx's Revelation into Sphinx's Revelation . And I saw the ending of your round three. Good to hear you took top 8.

Esper is coming around to be a driving force. Congrats on the Top 8, man!

Ahhh yes... the classic mill deck.... EXCEPT THAT THIS ONE IS MORE AWESOME!!!
You're like a mix of Control and Mill deck, that's like a mix of Oreos and Milk.... amazing!
Anyway... I like the idea here, and I agree with many of the card choices. I'm curious as to the presence of Planar Cleansing , I see your logic but I'd argue that Supreme Verdict is better 9 times out of 10. I'd argue Shrivel is a poor choice as it actually doesn't hit that many creatures (save for mana dorks... they'll rue the day they play against Shrivel ... but I think you're better served with Doom Blade for early removal.
Why no Mind Sculpt ? I think its a good go-to mill card, and I might be wrong in assuming that but I'd see it a strong card for a deck like this and possibly add 2-3 of them. Let me know what you think!
