Esper Control Standard 5/14/14

Sideboard

Standard Esper control deck

this is my take on the current esper control strategy, comments and feedback is welcomed. this is currently the exact configuration of the deck on 5.14.14

needing:

temple of enlightenment (x2-4)

banishing light (x1-2)

the sideboard is very focused on succeeding in mirror matches, monoblack, monoblue, and decks with any hexproof or indestrucible creatures. I like my sideboard for these matches, however, i think the deck could drop games in events to burn or other strategies that are less popular than the main decks because of lack of answers post-board.

the deck tends to have a large amount of trouble with burn and any decks that can put 2-4 mutavaults on the battlefield.

cards that i am thinking about cutting from the sidboard:

ashiok (really like this card, but often lack synergy with my deck)

quicken (awesome to quicken into thoughtseize during drawstep or verdict at instant speed, but often lacks relevancy and is simply cycled)

gainsay (narrow card but useful and doesnt stop all cards in mirror that matter like elspeth)

notion thief (would be fun to pull off against rev or deter underworld connections activations)

revoke existence (might as well be banishing light)

also, starting to wonder how useful elixir of immortality is in the mainboard.. its great when the deck starts to loop rev after rev, but i usually try to focus on slamming the door on the opponent by dropping hard to deal with threats and locking them out of the game.

thoughtseize is useful in most situations. for example, i can thoughtseize out opponents answers to my threats when they have clogged up removal in their hand in the late game or i can use it turn 1-2 to get a look at their hand and take the most relevant or hard to deal with card

I have yet to take this deck to any competitive mtg event

all feedback is welcomed!!!
