Designed specifically for a challenge to play Modern without the ban list. This is essentially a Legacy Deathblade list that cuts one drops in order to be free from Mental Misstep and focuses on the two-drop slot. This means we are vulnerable to Spell Snare, but we run our own Mental Misstep to compensate.

Sideboard:

Surgical Extraction for Dredge or combo in general

Mindbreak Trap for storm (possibly Cascade also),

Mental Misstep for aggressive decks with Wild Nacatl or for decks running Spell Snare

Liliana of the Veil for Bogles with Skullclamp or for control decks running Counterbalance and Sensei's Divining Top

Trickbind for Counterbalance decks and also for Cascade decks, countering the cascade ability.

Disenchant for the mirror or for affinity.

Since I am guessing that the majority of decks will run Jace, the Mind Sculptor, Bloodbraid Elf into Ancestral Vision, or Counterbalance with Sensei's Divining Top, I have chosen sideboard cards appropriately but also accounting for powerful strategies like Storm or Dredge which could be pretty good.

The manabase atm is untested and random, I am hoping that it works. I wanted to focus on black mana on turn 1 so that I can cast Deathrite Shaman or a discard spell. However, in Game Two we will probably take out Deathrite Shaman except against Dredge, due to Mental Misstep being in so many decks and sideboards.
