elonth you're right, I need to find something to replace him then!

You should put some Flaying Tendrils main and I am not sure you need that much Declaration in Stone main. Do not forget, your opponent will investigate. Maybe a single (or more) Call the Gatewatch can be interesting in your deck.

Drakender, I will substitute two Declaration in Stone for two Flaying Tendrils. We will see how it works out. Thanks for the suggestion. I would like to find more late game win conditions too, but there aren't too many in standard Esper at the current time. Just a lot of control and utility.

Rise from the Tides, Oblivion Sower are good too, tought the last one won't win you the game he is cool!, and you can consider Felidar Cub for your sideboard since you can recover it with Ojutai's Command.

Drakender, I like Felidar Cub. He will serve well since my friend has an enchantment based deck that I couldn't remove anything with. I'll have to side him in and see how it goes!

i would recommend a better counterspell than ojutais command. you simply do not have the deck to take advantage of its best option.

elonth good point, I will try out a different spell in place of it to see if the deck functions better.

Hey man! Love the deck! +1 from me!How has this stacked up against the current meta? Thought about throwing in a couple of Languish?
April 21, 2016 4:44 a.m.
jparagon33 Thanks man, I appreciate that a lot! Hooray for +1's. I've used Languish in the past, but it's just a harder spell to run in this deck. Flaying Tendrils seems to be doing just fine as a replacement, and it also exiles, so it removes cards such as Jace, Vryn's Prodigy Flip and Hangarback Walker which is super awesome, that way their Ojutai's Command can't bring those cards back after being removed. Languish is a big hitter, but I already have so much removal it isn't really necessary. Plus, in rare occasions, when the game goes later, such as turn 6-7, it can kill your Dragonlord Ojutai or Archangel Avacyn Flip. This deck is always being reworked though, and I like to keep it fresh. As far as against other current meta decks that I've seen, it hasn't had a hard time at all honestly. This build is such an awesome creation that I am proud of, and I hope to see it go further. The only challenging or rough match up I've had is against my friends Thopter / Mill deck. Mostly because it takes this deck a decent while to actually win, since you need to control everything. Once his Sphinx's Tutelage and other spells are in play, it becomes a race against time that this deck has a hard time beating because of how slow it is. Anyways, thanks for the comment! Hope my insight gave back a decent review on how this deck has been working for me recently.

Hello dude, I like this deck! Super in-tuned with the control vibe and the Thing in the Ice Flip is an awesome card to have. I personally have it in my Grixis Control deck. I play tested this twice and each time flooded on lands, by turn 8 I had nine lands between the hand and battlefield. I know in Modern they say go with no less than 26 lands for control, but in this format I think 25 is the set limit for lands. Considering my build allows discard functions with Tormenting Voice and yours doesn't it'll be hard for you to get rid of a flooded hand like the ones I had.
Other than that this deck ran exactly how you'd want it to, had the removal and had the Thing in the Ice Flip for defensive long game, just didn't make it cause of the land heavy hands. Still worth a +1 mate.

DrMooKdaSues Thanks for the upvote and review! The land is a little heavy, but there is always room to try different things out! So I'll try switching it down to a few less lands, and I'll throw in two Clash of Wills to replace them. We will see how it goes! Thanks again friend.

Day's Undoing is the best answer to mill decks in standard and its actually playable in the main board because of how it refuels you hand. Other seems like a decent control deck

Zaueski Haha yeah, I was actually thinking about putting one copy in just because it might actually be pretty useful if mill somehow becomes relevant. And even that, it's a strong card if I'm against another control deck and the game goes super long.

Sdsoda Thanks! I appreciate that, and yes, I love Esper! My favorite colors, and the colors I play in Commander.

you don't have nearly enough zombies for diregraf colossus to be used effectively. he only benefits off of actual zombies. not cards that make zombies.
