Ok i realized that i wasnt really getting headway with Grixis control. I just wanted to throw in a large mix of cards that had no cohesion. I this time tried to focus more on a goal and that goal was to win with planeswalkers and land creatures, and other transformation type creatures.
The Walkers.
Jace, Vryn's Prodigy
There is a reason this guy is so pricey right now. Hes one of the strongest planeswalkers in standard. He Gives card advantage and new life to whatever instants or sorceries you may have in your graveyard. He's one of my favorite cards to run in the deck.
Ob Nixilis Reignited As far as walkers go this guy is pretty valuable. The Bloodgift Demon Effect is wonderful for keeping up with hand advantage. His Middle ability works as another source of removal and makes him kind of a bully at 5 mana, and if you manage to get his Emblem your opponents will cry.
Narset Transcendent Another good planeswalker for a control deck like this. The ability to draw into my boardwipes and my removal. As well as her second abilities rebound on my spells gives her alot of use. And if you manage to bust out her emblem it's scoop worthy.
Sorin, Solemn Visitor At first glance he is kind of weird. His +1 gives a buff to some of our creature tokens and land creatures as well as giving them life link. And his middle ability makes really decent blockers to protect our walkers. I dont really intend on getting to his emblem ... but it is more removal.
Ugin, the Spirit Dragon What can i say about Ugin. Hes definately more removal. He is a game changer. His ult gives plenty of draw and board advantage if you can get it.
The Creatures Makers
Secure the Wastes
An Instant speed army? Whats not to love. Dropping in chump blockers is always nice. Or dropping them as my opponent ends their turn so i can swing in and get some damage.
Shambling Vent This is in my opinion one of the better manlands. There is a reason we are running a playset in this deck. The lifelink helps us stablize and get into the late game. And if we target it with our awaken triggers. This guy will become a monster.
The Board Wipes.
Planar Outburst
Kills most of my opponents creatures and leaves me with my awakened lands. Totally worth it even the fact that it can awaken a land on cast.
End Hostilities No real suprise here it kills everything and works as inteneded.
Crux of Fate I can either kill dragons or non dragons with it both modes will prove useful in this standard.
The Removal
Utter End I love being able to exile threats. Doing so means i dont have to worry about them anymore. And its instant speed so all the better.
Ruinous Path This is another awaken card that allows me to kill opposing walkers and creatures without having to fret to much about what is left. Its good both late and early game and will be effective.
Stasis Snare I never thought id see an Oblivion Ring with flash. This may only be temporary removal but it works to make things that much harder for my opponents to get their creatures back.
Some of the Personal Touches
Monastery Siege This works to give me more draw power each turn. Or better yet it increases the cost of targeting my creatures or planeswalkers with removal. Im debation on wether or not to put another one in. But this kind of protection is invaluable.
Part the Waterveil Alot of people are iffy on this but with it i see true value. I can discard it to jace and then use his ability to rebound it back into play. Or Narset can rebound it as i cast it to get a couple of Extra turns. This will help possibly get our planeswalkers to their ultimates. The awaken trigger on shambling vents makes a whopping 8/9 with lifelink.
Im looking for help with focusing down the goal of complete control All Suggestions are welcome. I also really really need help with the sideboard. Thanks for your time!
