Standard Control Mill Superfriends WU (Azorius) WUB (Esper)

SirChow

Sideboard

Artifact (2)

Instant (5)

Sorcery (1)

With this deck i was to:

  1. control the board state with counter spells and removal such as Dissolve, Detention Sphere, Doom Blade, Devour Flesh and Hero's Downfall

  2. have card advantage with Sphinx's Revelation and Azorius Charm aswell as scry from Dissolve and Temple of Deceit and Temple of Silence

  3. kill them with Elspeth, Sun's Champion's +1 and out numbering my opponent with 1/1 solder tokens and/or AEtherling being a 8/1 unblockable with the ability to be bounced out when there is removal and/or I mill them out and use their creatures from Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver.

  4. Sideboarding for the next game:

(optional) bring in Pithing Needle whenever they have any Planeswalkers or annoying creatures with abilities like AEtherling, Deathrite Shaman and especially Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx against devotion decks, it can also make Thassa, God of the Sea not use its unblockable ability and if monstrosity is ever an issue

  • Against control: Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver to mill, Also bring in Blood Baron of Vizkopa for their removal to be useless and gain alot of life and having a potential to be a 10/10 and also Negate for their spells

  • Against aggro: Doom Blade to have more removal

  • In both match up you can bring in Precinct Captain, for control, it is to out number them with creatures and to finish off the game by out numbering the board with soldier tokens and in aggro match-ups you can bring them in to stall and to be as equally aggressive as the enemy deck and eventually bring out the bombs of the deck.

  • In monocolored decks such as mono blue, you can being in Gainsay and in control decks such as Esper control that have cards like Detention Sphere or Elspeth, Sun's Champion you can bring in Glare of Heresy to get rid of them or even in any mono white decks

I hope this helps you understand my reasoning behind the cards that i chose for my esper control deck which I will be play testing at my weekly FNM, I will keep updating my deck aswell as my result from upcoming FNMs.

If you guys have any feedback about my deck such as how I can improve my deck in what i can switch in or out. I would thoroughly love to hear your criticism.

Thanks,

SirChow

WOOHOO! I CAME FIRST!

I was able to win first with this deck but i made some tweaks and since my local game shop plays alot of mono-blue, black agrro and red aggro i have decided on playing a playset of supreme verdict and an extra merciless eviction so that i can have 5 board-sweeps and also have an answer to planeswalkers and gods in the first game.

Ill try this new version in this upcoming fnm and also there is an event this Saturday at my local store with a first prize win getting a box of Modern Masters. I hope i do well and come first so i can get the awesome prizes. :D

SirChow
