'Cause the World Might Do Me In

Theme inspired from Mystery Skull's "Ghost" and Mystery Ben's fan-made music video.

And I'm Feeling Like a Ghost

Welcome to my Brago, King Eternal decklist. Sit back, enjoy the music, and I shall give you the run-down on one of my favorite commander decks.

Since Avacyn Restored introduced the concept of flickering to me via Restoration Angel, Ghostly Flicker, ect, I've always craved a method in which to maximize flickering in commander. Roon of the Hidden Realm never really floated my boat, Derevi, Empyrial Tactician felt a little closer to what I wanted, yet... it was back in April of 2014 that I found a recently spoiled card that would answer my prayers. Brago, King Eternal. Everything about him was what I wanted. Ghostly, flickery, hauntingly powerful. It was no surprise to me that I built him, despite the fact that I had never played Azorius before. Even though I've had this deck for a mostly short period of time, it has quickly become one of my favorites. Versitile, consistant, and down-right fun... for me. My opponents? Not so much. To those who are looking to inspire elements from my deck, be warned. The games you play will quickly shift to archenemy.

Try and Hear Me Then I'm Done

This deck is tempo-control, with increasingly prevalent elements of taxing and staxing. Also, there will be combos. Delcious, delicious combos. The point of the deck is to amass some method of keeping Brago with flicker targets, or pulling out a combo. Essentially, stall until you get what you want. To accomplish this, I went for a tempo-controlling route. We use counterspells, draw, removal... pretty much anything that constitutes tempo... And then what do I do? Well, if I get a combo, then I play it and that's that. If not.... then blow everything up with Wrath of God/ Cataclysm /Armageddon. Or lock people down with Winter Orb. Heck, I'm tempted to run Stasis in here too.

Now, the combos I mention are spread out through the deck in such a way so that even individually, the combo pieces benefit the deck. For example, while Palinchron and Phantasmal Image are a match made in heaven, I certainly don't mind having a 4/5 flier that untaps seven lands everytime Brago, King Eternal pimp smacks an enemy. Additionally, Strionic Resonator and a mana rock like Sol Ring are ridicious when added to Brago, but they still work alone. Most of them should speak for themselves.

To make it all better, Brago, King Eternal adds lots of utility on his own. He can "reset" mana rocks (like Gilded Lotus), reset clones (like Clever Impersonator), reset planeswalkers (like Karn Liberated), and all sorts of other things. Who doesn't like triggering Sun Titan multiple times a turn? Why wouldn't you want a Glen Elendra Archmage that can remove her persist counter? Paying only one mana to Mystic Remora? Sign me up.

Seen This Played Out in My Dream

Thanks for checking out this deck!

Feel free to give me some ideas, suggestions, or pieces of constructive criticism. Finding new flicker targets is sometimes pretty tough, and it is easy to miss stuff. Your comments will be greatly appreciated by me and greatly loathed by my foes. Also, let me know what you think of the new description.

Updates Add

After playing Palinchron and Phantasmal Image for a few months, I've never really combo'd out except once... and I didn't even need to combo out with it. As a result, I've made some changes to really accentuate my Strionic Resonator combos.

Added:

Thanks to Static Orb, I might include Mana Web to really screw with my opponents.
