Board Control

A variety of ways to hold your own against whatever may be thrown your way.

• Condemn - Deals with aggressive commanders such as Kaalia and Thraximundar.
• Dispatch - The one-mana instant removal for artifact decks.
• Merciless Eviction - Sometimes it just has to happen.
• Scourglass - Wipes the field of non-Etherium trash.
• Soulscour - Kills a lot of things.
• Spinal Embrace - Can be a complete blowout, stealing anything from Worldspine Wurm to Jeleva, Nephalia's Scourge and getting absurd value.
• Stoic Rebuttal - Counterspell for artifact decks.
• Spine of Ish Sah - Universal removal. Then bounce it for even more.
• Staff of Nin - Sydri makes this "UWB, Tap: Destroy target creature."
• Wash Out - Has Sydri flavor text. Hibernation is a powerful card against green, and this can choose any color.

General Artifact Combos

For reference, a list of a variety of well-known artifact combos:

• Mindslaver + Academy Ruins = Lock out your opponent from the game.
• Sharuum the Hegemon + Sculpting Steel/Phyrexian Metamorph = Infinite loop of artifact creature ETB triggers.
• Thopter Assembly + Time Sieve = Infinite turns.
• Nevinyrral's Disk + Darksteel Forge = Constant repeatable board wipes. Absurd with Mycosynth Lattice to destroy everything instead.

Artifact Creatures

After lasting through the early game, bring out some of these creatures to take the fight back to your opponents:

• Blightsteel Colossus - The one and only one-shot.
• Ethersworn Adjudicator - A moderately-sized creature that also gives board control.
• Filigree Angel - Stabilize by gaining a ton of life.
• Inkwell Leviathan - Massive and untouchable, great against decks with many targeted removal spells.

Sydri Combos

Sydri does more than simply turning inanimate objects into Wurmcoil Engine copies:

• Caltrops - If it attacks, it dies.
• Darksteel Ingot - Mana ramp, or indestructible blocker?
• Liquimetal Coating - Turn a land into an artifact, then destroy it with Sydri for a mere U.
• Mycosynth Lattice - Sydri now has the ability "U: Target land's controller sacrifices it."
• Staff of Nin - Turn this into a creature, then give it deathtouch with Sydri. Tap and kill a creature. Then untap with Thousand-Year Elixir to do it again.
• Tempered Steel - Lets you turn your own 0-cost artifacts into creatures without killing them in the process.

Cards to Be Scared Of

Keep a counter spell or other relevant removal handy in case one of these cards show up:

• Hellkite Tyrant - Pretty terrifying. If you can steal it with Memnarch though...
• Merciless Eviction - Ghost Dad says screw your entire board.

Playing Nice

Some of the combos in this deck can be a bit much for certain playgroups. If the power level of the deck needs to go down, these are the cards to change:

• Blightsteel Colossus - Replace it with Darksteel Colossus for a similar experience.
• Liquimetal Coating - Used primarily for land destruction with Sydri.
• Magister Sphinx - Infamous for its ability, especially brutal in a 40 life format.
• Mindslaver - Really powerful, able to lock players out of the game.
• Mycosynth Lattice - Allows lands to be destroyed for U with Sydri. May be a bit much.
