Etna's Fiery Temper

Unknown

Demon Lord Etna, yes THAT Demon Lord Etna, is a pushy, passionate, egocentric demoness who splits her time between hanging around in the Netherworld, and hanging around a specific hotel in Tokyo, where she was instrumental in the introduction of Prinny servants to do clothes, carry things, and clean up horrible messes caused by fights and parties between superheroes. If you aren't familiar with any of those events, that's perfectly fine, and you are still welcome to comment on the theme deck I created for her.

Nippon-Ichi's Etna is a 1400 year old demon named for a volcano, and she is a walking collection of reasons you do not want her as an enemy. While I'm sure the canonical Beauty Queen has a significant undercurrent of black mana alongside her red, our version seems more dominated by personal gratification, utterly dismissive of propriety, fairly loyal to her friends (though rarely putting them in front of herself), and generally being an antihero more than a villain. As such, after careful research and discussion, and hearing that Etna cares most about "Freedom," I decided to represent her with pure Red Mana.

Her current portrayal mostly paints her as an individual who gains great satisfaction from (and expends great energy toward) two major persuits: 1) obtaining the finer things in life, and 2) beating up or blowing up the people who disagree with her, the people who obstruct her from pursuit #1, and anybody else she happens to strongly dislike.

As her deck suggests, she's really awesome at doing this. In fact, besides some devils who show up to intimidate early on (Vexing Devil) or to make sure that Etna never runs out of ammo in the end-game (Charmbreaker Devils), the entire deck is dedicated to making sure that all those who step forward to challenge her wind up as smoldering ash on the ground.

This deck is awesome at killing large numbers of weak creatures, while also damaging their controller. As soon as the high-toughness creatures that can't be burned to death hit the field, Etna's deck uses cards like Threaten to gain control of them during combat and keep the pressure on a wounded opponent. Fling is in there do get double mileage from cards that usurp control, and to closely reference Etna's "Prinny Throw" ability in the game. If the opponent's deck summons creatures that are unexpectedly resilient or otherwise manages to put up an effective defense, Destructive Force can wipe creatures and lands clean, and a low-cost burn deck always benefit more from a simplified board state--so don't hesitate to use it. Etna certainly wouldn't.

This deck is aggressive, unrelenting, and capable of dealing gobs of damage in a very short time.

I think that's a fairly accurate portayal of a demon lord, no?
