I was toying with a way to use good interaction between Lotleth Troll and Varolz, the Scar-Striped without really being aware it was 'a thing' already (having recently returned to MTG and never having played Modern).
I've thrown together a shell that I now need some help with, I am not needing to go super competitive as I am sure Lupine Prototype and Eternal Scourge aren't optimal but I've given myself a (believe it or not) shortened list of maybe's to add. I'll put my thought process briefly with them each below but would like the community's thoughts too!
Some points;
Asylum Visitor - gives cards back when you're empty and decent Power to Cost Ratio (henceforth P:C)
Avatar of Discord - good P:C and don't care if I discard really. Could do without yet another 3-drop though.
Blood Scrivener - different but the same idea as Asylum Visitor
Caustic Caterpillar - generic removal attached to a creature as a bonus
Charging Badger - a trample creature, one of the best things about Lotleth Troll in this deck
Dark Confidant - Bob is Bob, card advantage, not much with a high CMC and if I do have to resort to actually playing Death's Shadow then I don't care about the life either
Force of Savagery - excellent P:C
Geier Reach Sanitarium - helps me drum through the deck and avoid dead land drops late on
Hunted Troll - great P:C and could be the curve topper
Indrik Stomphowler - see Caustic Caterpillar but plus-size
Killing Wave - I don't necessarily need that many creatures in play and can afford to pay the life once or twice if I do need to play a Death's Shadow as a plan B
Korozda Monitor - bigger trampler
Mask of Memory - card advantage
Molten-Tail Masticore - Good P:C, another discard outlet
Mutagenic Growth - can pay the life without a worry and force through that extra damage
Night's Whisper - quite drawn to this as extra fuel and not bothered by the life loss
Noose Constrictor - discard outlet and some defence against flyers
Nyxathid - good P:C
Oona's Prowler - good P:C and emergency discard outlet if needed
Pain Seer - mini Bob
Putrid Leech - cheap discard outlet and OK for the P:C
Rite of Consumption - chuck a beefed up Lotleth Troll or something to avoid lock down
Rust Scarab - anti artifact machine with OK P:C
Scythe Tiger - good P:C, would I ever cast it?
Snuff Out - more removal and life loss for plan B
Strongarm Tactics - actually the perfect card for the deck if it remains casual as not Modern legal
Tomb of Urami - bit of a plan C?
Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth - worth it for any reason? Maybe if getting green flood
Vampire Lacerator - good P:C and strong aggro-ness
Viridian Zealot - see Caustic Caterpillar again
