Nice deck. Has mainboarding Slaughter Games been working for you?

Forgive me if I sound a little inexperienced; I don't often play standard. What do you think of Drown in Sorrow , does the scry effect contribute to your strategy? Overall, I like this build quite a bit.

GoblinKing, I have found that Slaughter Games is one of my best cards. It takes out their biggest threat, and it takes out cards I wouldn't have otherwise been able to take down, such as Assemble the Legion .

I like the deck for the most part. I think Shock is out of place in the sideboard though. It feels like there should be more Thoughtseize but that's just me, I guess. Consider Fate Unraveler in the board against Sphinx's Revelation . Just a thought.

Thanks for the input! I'm often pretty worried against faster decks, so that's why Shock is in the sideboard.

How does it do in tournaments? I really love control decks that doesn't rely on blue cards. Nice brew.

black red control is super sick. Have you tried Mogis, God of Slaughter in here yet? As a control deck, and against control decks, he really shines. With all the removal you have on hand its gonna be fairly difficult not to take 2 damage. Also, though rare, he does turn on in control matches if u manage to get underworld connections and some other junk on the board. Also perhaps a Sire Of Insanity ?

I love control decks without blue. Maybe try Stormbreath Dragon ? Nice deck +1

How about Toil / Trouble ? It doesn't exactly play nice with Rakdos's Return (if you've already hit them with that), but it would be only slightly worse than Read the Bones otherwise, and it's another way to kill your opponent.

Needs more Storm Crow
Seriously, though any chance of fitting Mogis in here? I dunno what it is with me but I feel that Mogis has a ton of potential somewhere in standard :\

Hey Ive built something similar but as a B/R/W build almost all same cept how do you go about protecting your own creatures? Also if you start finding that you lose too much life and all your creatures keep getting removed i found that going Crypt Incursion targetting them followed by having an underworld cerberus and taking it out yourself Underworld Cerberus would basically make every opponent nash their teeth. You can also cast the incursion in response to your pup dying so its a great turn around play. It also lets you continue to pump out the thoughtseizes and bones. thats only if you wanna have another creature in though. Your deck seems epic though hope you keep it up check out my profile if you wanna see mine. :) +1

Also Rakdos Charm is great against token decks. you hit that then rakdos return against them when they're beginning to build up and the opponent is so weak that your burn spells or chandra should be able to finish them

Whenever i play non-blue or non-white control decks, I always end up hurting for life. I would recommend Crypt Incursion if it wasn't for all your Anger of the Gods . Anger seems pretty necessary, so what about Elixir of Immortality ? It would let u reuse your lost cards and 5 life is great for stabilizing.

Hey everyone, sorry I haven't gotten back to all your comments in a while, but thanks for all the comments and +1s!
Let's start with hesuskrist and CanadianSamurai. I have tried Mogis, God of Slaughter in this deck, and I've found he's not explosive enough. Mogis is very slow in this deck, and Master of Cruelties is much better at killing than Mogis. It's also occasionally necessary to have blockers out, and Mogis often doesn't help in this regard.
As for Toil / Trouble , cklise, I have thought about it, but I'm really not trying to do damage until Master of Cruelties or Desecration Demon comes out. Doing 5 damage to an opponent really isn't that great, and the scry from Read the Bones makes it much better than Toil .
Crypt Incursion is a card I really haven't thought about much. I think that Underworld Cerberus doesn't really have a spot here - I've tried him before, but I will definitely think about it, so thanks, Sethes5 and Timbuscus.
I have, however, found that Elixir of Immortality often isn't enough for me - 5 life does very little and I would much prefer to have Crypt Incursion. It'll go in my maybeboard. Thanks everyone!

What about Sire Of Insanity ? It might break the mana curve, and come out turn six, but other than that, it wrecks other's plans.
March 9, 2014 7:53 p.m.
Sire Of Insanity really does not work for me, I'm afraid. Being a control deck myself, I do not want to give up my own hand, and Master of Cruelties is a better win condition than him. Thanks for the comment and +1 though!

i wouldn't use Doom Blade in the main deck, or at least not 3 of them. maybe try using Lightning Strike instead. It gets rid of those pesky Nightveil Specter s. Also, not sure how the sideboard works with a bunch of 1-of's. Ratchet Bomb s should be in sideboard, along with Eye Gouge . I haven't seen many people play Eye Gouge in a sideboard, and when they see it in mine they don't understand, until i use it to get rid of their Mutavault , then they are very unhappy lol.
March 10, 2014 7:07 a.m.
Valentine35, thanks for the comment and +1. However, I'm not extremely worried about Nightveil Specter , and cards like it. Doom Blade is just so much more useful for me, and it's backed up by the two Dark Betrayal in the sideboard.
I have thought about Ratchet Bomb, but it hasn't done me a great amount of work and I think that there are better cards out there for me.
I won't ever play Eye Gouge - while it is a great way to take down Mutavault , I have a lot of other options to take it down. Considering it's hate towards a single card, I don't think it's useful enough for me.
Thanks for the comment!

Have you considered running stormbreaths main? Or 2 mortars. I know. It depends on your meta but I considered splashing red in to my GB decks multiple times just to have an answer to bloodbaron. For mortars I'd consider dropping 1 anger and a doom blade.

It's a shame this deck is limited to standard, because then you could put in Damnation .

very aggressive removal deck maybe Mizzium Mortars instead of magma to take out higher toughness creatures and late game its a great board that works with Big D

I'd take out crypt incursion and side the magma Jets and Doom blades to main mizzium mortars and more hero's downfall. You'd need to add one more card, as well, so probably another thoughtseize. Other than that it looks really good to me.
