If it ain't broke...

My most stylistic choice is probably the lack of mana elves. I've seen several Edric builds that include a bunch of mana elves, and I think the strongest version of Edric is one that doesn't use any, since they almost all add green mana, and what Edric most wants is blue mana. The mana base gets warped around the elves, and you end up with a perennial preponderance of green and shortage of blue.

I also think the choice of evasive creatures matters very much for mana efficiency, by which I mean including a few of the best cheap & evasive colorless and green creatures available to make use of your green mana. Thus, Hope of Ghirapur, Treetop Scout and Silhana Ledgewalker are subtly very important includes over some other random blue 1/1 flyer.
