invest in shock lands as you said but unless you can find them cheap dont spend too much on check lands, Blood Baron of Vizkopa protection from white and black is fantastic but the lifelink gives you a good amount back with exalted

Thanks quickstream, I have some Blind Obedience , what would you take out??? Or just have it in the sideboard?? Any other tips for the sideboard, it's pretty much non existent at the moment. Like I said - a total newbie...Regarding the Blood Baron, He's tough to find in China where I live, hence the nighthawks.

I would suggest the full 4x Sublime Archangel and another Knight of Infamy over the Tormented Soul s. Blood Baron of Vizkopa might really good in here, over Essence Harvest . And Blind Obedience is a bad card, with 4x Knight of Infamy , 4x Knight of Glory and 2x Blood Baron of Vizkopa you should be able to deter any attackers. Blood Baron, Archangel and Aven all have flying so pushing through isn't going to be hard and unless you plan on running a few Archangels of Thune come M14, Blind Obedience won't do enough in the 2-drop slot.

I really like Skeletal Grimace in here though. Regeneration is a fantastic thing to put on Sublime Archangel and/or Blood Baron.

Thanks a lot BlazeRyder, great suggestions, like i said to quickstream Blood Baron is tough to find in China, but definately an awesome card. Can I ask a question? Will taking out my one drop Tormented Soul for a five drop, slow the deck down too much. I like the one drop option for the unblockable element. also would removing Essence Harvest be a problem, I kind of like it as a finisher, also would be easier to get above 30 life for the Blood Baron effect to kick in. Thanks for the comments really appreciate it. Note taken on the Sublime Archangel just need to save some money first.

Blood Baron of Vizkopa isnt good because of his second effect, the protection from white and black is rare, not to mention most removal is found in these colours secondly Essence Harvest as a finisher is a wrong way to look at it, its a fall back when you are not doing so great. although Tormented Soul i personally would keep in due to been unblockable you do need to swarm the field with exalted to give it a real bonus so to that end 2 should be enough to keep your curve.

But as i said for a beginner exalted although fun is rotating out in 3months, thats not a lot of bang for buck you want something with the return to ravnica block any of the 10 guild decks are good not the same as exalted though but i dont want to see you spend a lot of money and time on something which you wont get to see mature. i found it took a lot of tweaking my first deck to get it just right Orzhov Lifelink/Extort but its not a winning deck but it was fun, it worked and thats what mattered. But like i said it took time to get right so with that logic you wont really see your deck live very long once you do get it right. But this is my oppinion if you only play casual with friends these things dont really matter

quickstream I should maybe have explained a little more in the description, I listed the deck as standard, because I wanted some views and suggestions (and it still is standard for a little while) but realise it won't be standard for much longer. I play with a group of about 8 or so friends, but live in China. Most of our play is casual - so decks which are standard/modern can all be used. Like your Orzhov Lifelink/Extort deck, I just like this mechanic and it's fun to play, gives my friends quite a few headaches when they realise it's this deck - hahaa but I would like to improve it a little and make it stronger - so really want to thank you for the effort and time to comment on it. And quite right, as it will drop out of standard soon, I wouldnt recommend to anyone to invest in it, but to play once and awhile casually it's good fun. I've got more robust decks in progress i.e. last longer after rotation, but I not got round to putting them up yet, I wanted to get some suggestions for this, before people lost interest in it all together. Hope all that makes sense.

You'd be removing the four 1-drops for a remarkably better 2-drop and three finisher cards. The deck won't be slowed down at all because you have 4 gates which you'll want in play on T1 so they don't hurt you later as well as the fact that the moment a Sublime Archangel or two (or three or four) hit the board you're going to start winning, especially if you have removal-dodging knights/vampires and evasive avens on board. Dark Favor probably doesn't do enough in this deck if you were to grab 4 Archangels as the exalted triggers make it redundant and most removal will straight up kill a creature. Look into Faith's Shield and/or Cloudshift to replace it. The regeneration on Skeletal Grimace is good for living board wipes. Holy Mantle might better be replaced with Gift of Orzhova for flying (less good but still adequate evasion) and lifelink, helping to turn on the Blood Baron if all/lots of your Angels die. It's also easier and cheaper to cast than the Mantle. I don't think Unmake is standard legal right now so replace it with Murder , or even better, Ultimate Price . Essence Harvest is not a very good finisher so if you can get Blood Barons. I also really love Vampire Nighthawk so putting him in this deck was a great idea.

In the sideboard consider Rootborn Defenses or Faith's Reward for dealing with deck that run lots of Terminus and/or Supreme Verdict .

BlazeRyder thanks so much for your time and the effort to make those suggestions for me, I really like them. When I get hold of the archangels I will make the changes you suggested. Holy Mantle was in there as an unblockable effect, but I do take your point, If i had the Blood Baron, then Gift of Orzhova makes more sense. Certainly not ignoring your suggestions but will keep in Dark Favor until I manage to get hold of the other cards. It just makes what I have a little bigger. I already have Faith's Shield and Cloudshift as well as Rootborn Defenses . Thanks for pointing out Unmake to me.

Disciple of Bolas can result in some nice card draw if you sack a creature you just swung with

I played a similar R/W exalted deck back before gatecrash came out with Doomed Traveler ,Ash Zealot ,Elite Inquisitor ,Fiend Hunter and various burn/Bonfires/Entreats replacing the black things in your build. My casual group feared t4 Sublime Archangel because it usually meant a t5 Thundermaw Hellkite . I hope your playgroup learns to be wary of your exalted deck as well.

Unmake is the only non-standard card in this deck. If you're looking for removal, I suggest replacing it with Murder , Orzhov Charm or, if you need the exile, Sever the Bloodline . Also, Ethereal Armor has great synergy with all the enchantments you run in this deck.

Thanks TheFanatic yeah a mistake on Unmake I havent made the change yet, going to put in Ultimate Price instead. Yeah I run Ethereal Armor in my Azorius Enchantments deck. When I get some more Sublime Archangel I think I'm going to take our Dark Favor and Holy Mantle for Faith's Shield .

Thanks Kahosmaker yeah the shock lands are on the shopping list along with more Sublime Archangel , need to save up first though. Oh is it - i've got older copies of Doom Blade but if it's going to reprinted it would be worth putting in.

If you really like the life combo, you should try throwing in some Exquisite Blood and Vizkopa Guildmage , seeing as how they both function really well on their own with your deck, and together it could be a major finisher if you get the right cards. I would suggest Sign in Blood to help make that happen or even set off the combo, it's just a great card to get anytime really. (the lose 2 life shouldn't bother you much if you've got Essence Harvest and lifelink running.)

Godless Shrine is $13 but i Would Wait Because the price is Going DownIf You Can Borrow Isolated Chapel They Would Help you In At Fnm But I would Stick Post rotation

Godless Shrine is cheaper than Isolated Chapel .godless is $8 average and isolated is $10 average at the moment.

Thanks for the comments, and pricing info Kahosmaker Morokai the prices are a bit steeper than that here in China, most Chinese players, look for winning deck idea's then just go out and buy the deck. So shock lands are pretty pricey. But will be added in when I get them.

sealyon thanks for the input and +1, I may try the combo in here, but I am already running the combo in a modern lifegain deck along with Sanguine Blood, I was impressed you combined both in yours though.
