Creature (1)

Crazy. Stupid. Counters.

Here's a wacky idea based around Exava, Rakdos Blood Witch and M14's own Kalonian Hydra. I've found that in some playtests it's not uncommon to see creatures with hundreds of +1/+1 counters in as little as 5-7 turns! The deck has now been updated for Return to Ravnica/Theros Standard.

                           EXAVA'S HASTY HYDRAS

Enjoy your EXTRA BIG ASS CREATURES!

  • Corpsejack Menace - This bad boy helps me abuse the Evolve mechanic as well as the Hydras for insane amounts of +1/+1 counters.

  • Elvish Mystic - Early game ramp goes a long way in helping this deck beat someone into oblivion before they can blink. This little guy makes for a good starting point.

  • Exava, Rakdos Blood Witch - The namesake of this deck. Exava followed by a Kalonian Hydra is the stuff of nightmares. When unleashed, she can easily grow into a big problem for enemy blockers.

  • Gyre Sage - An elvish mana machine that requires a bit of fine tuning to abuse for huge mana dumps. Fortunately there's plenty of ways to tune up your Gyre Sage here.

  • Kalonian Hydra - Whoever designed this card better have realized what was bound to happen here. Doubles the +1/+1 counters on each creature I control? Sweet. Corpsejack Menace also on the battlefield? Are you mad? Yes, yes I am.

  • Mistcutter Hydra - Can't be countered? Always a plus. A hasty Hydra? I love it! Protection from blue? Kinda cool too!

  • Nylea, God of the Hunt - Standing tall above the forests of Theros is Nylea, giving my Hydras the trample they so rightfully deserve.

  • Polukranos, World Eater - With so many mega mana sources, Polukranos really is capable of eating the world. Also a Hydra. I like Hydras.

  • Renegade Krasis - Kicks ass. You can argue otherwise, but I won't listen. :)

  • Savageborn Hydra - A double strike Hydra that I can keep dumping mana into whenever I want? I'll take two!

  • Sylvan Caryatid - Fills the mana fixing void left by Farseek, though without the added benefit of thinning the deck. With built in resistance to removal though, I can't complain.

Would you like to try an EXTRA BIG ASS PLANESWALKER? Now with more LOYALTY COUNTERS!

  • Domri Rade - Makes for fairly reliable card advantage and removal source. That -7 is just dirty!

  • Garruk, Caller of Beasts - Topping off the curve is Garruk, the EXTRA BIG ASS PLANESWALKER! With the deck consisting of over 50% creatures, he can help refuel my hand nearly as well as his predecessor. His other abilities aren't too shabby either!

  • Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx - Given that only 3 of the nonland cards in the deck aren't green, this sweet addition gives me another source for massive amounts of mana!

  • Rogue's Passage - Nothing can replace the great Kessig Wolf Run, but getting my creatures through unblocked doesn't hurt. Okay, actually it does hurt. It hurts a lot!

Any ideas would be appreciated. I'll probably be looking through the usual good utility removal, graveyard hate, etc. Other new and interesting opinions are always welcome. Thanks! :)
