Theme of the deck:

The purpose here is to abuse Aetherworks Marvel to bring out the large creatures in the deck, namely Aethersquall Ancient , Verdurous Gearhulk, Emrakul, the Promised End and Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger. By turn 4, if everything goes accordingly, you should have at least one of these large creatures out on the field.

Explanation of cards:Turn 1 - 3.

The beginning of your turn should involve amassing energy for you to use. This is why all 1 - 3 drops are involved in creating energy.

Turn 1:Attune with Aether and Minister of Inquiries are the two cards to be used starting off. Attune with Aether is used for mana fixing, while Minister of Inquires is used for energy and can be used to counter decks that scry cards. Alternatively, Thriving Turtle can be used in it's place, but it's not recommended, as explained below.

Turn 2:There are a few options here. Any of the puzzle knots ( Woodweaver's Puzzleknot and Glassblower's Puzzleknot ) and will give you energy. The creatures which will give you energy are Aether Theorist , Servant of the Conduit and Sage of Shaila's Claim . By now, if all is going to plan, we should have somewhere between 4-5 energy.

Glint-Nest Crane can be used to search out Aetherworks Marvel or any of the puzzleknots, or even a Verdurous Gearhulk, in case you can't get take out Aetherworks Marvel . It works to help fix the hand, and go through the deck faster.

Smuggler's Copter is the only card there that does not provide energy, but it's there for two reason:. The first, is that it is a "decent" source of early damage, considering all the other cards are fairly low in power. Second, is that it can pitch cards that you will most likely not be able to play from hand, such as Emrakul, the Promised End or Aethersquall Ancient , by allowing you to loot when you attack or block. This card can be crewed by every creature in the deck, which is why Thriving Turtle is not recommended.

Turn 3:After much testing, it was determined that Empyreal Voyager did not provide much for the field, especially since he did not provide immediate energy. Instead, we replaced him with a Tireless Tracker, but only one of. It may go up to two, replacing Aethersquall Ancient , for the following reasons:

  1. It provides clues, which are artifacts. Theses can be used in the count for Inventors' Fair or just for general draw power.

  2. He is a decent creature, and can deal a decent amount of damage, especially when clue tokens are sacrificed.

Turn 4: Aetherworks Marvel The focus of the deck. This card can be used immediately, to get out one of the big creatures. And with energy flow in this deck, it should be able to do it once per turn. This should allow you to dig through your deck, and allow you to cheat the big creatures out onto the field using it's ability.

Combo Pieces to improve Aetherworks Marvels Consistancy:

Aether Theorist : Helps by allowing you to scry 1. This may not seem like a big deal, but by scrying one, you can look at the top card, and pitch it to the bottom if you know it won't help you when activating Aetherworks Marvel ability.

Glassblower's Puzzleknot : does the same exact thing, except it also gives you energy at the same time. Whether you're looking for the marvel, or looking for something to play with the marvel, this card can help in both situations. Effectively, you are allowed to look 8 cards down, with the double scry from Glassblower's Puzzleknot.

Woodweaver's Puzzleknot : Though it doesn't do the same thing as Glassblower's Puzzleknot , it can help maintain field presents, and can be useful in case you can't choose anything good from Aetherworks Marvel . When it enter's the field via Aetherworks Marvel, you immediately gain 3 life and 3 energy. That's half of the cost of Aetherworks Marvel. By sacrificing it, you get back another 3 energy, and another 3 life. And then you get one energy, from Aetherworks Marvel first ability. So in total, you are netting 7 energy and 6 life, for the cost of 3 mana.

Glint-Nest Crane, as explained before, helps fix the hand in case you don't hit an Aetherworks Marvel , or a puzzleknot which either is valuable by themselves. Very much worth running, but not too many, since it itself does not provide any energy.

Power Houses of the Deck

Aethersquall Ancient : Though a bit mana heavy, if gotten out with Aetherworks Marvel , with give consistant upkeep of energy each turn, and provide a large threat to the opponent. If it's secondary ability is used, it can effectively wipe out the opponent's board, allow you to replay energy cards, and swing in for six damage each turn.

Both Emrakul, the Promised End and Verdurous Gearhulk provide immediate threats upon being casted via Aetherworks Marvel . Emrakul, the Promised End takes control of their next turn. While Verdurous Gearhulk can be casted on curve by turn 5, and can become an immediate threat. When Verdurous Gearhulk is combined with Empyreal Voyager , this provides a steady amount of energy each turn. Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger provides immediate card destruction, and is very powerful by itself.

Final Notes:

Aether Hub gives one energy, which can go a far way in this deck, and help tremendously.

Inventors' Fair can help search out Aetherworks Marvel , but can be a bit difficult, considering most of the puzzleknots will be sacrificed. Even though both Smuggler's Copter and Verdurous Gearhulk can be counted towards the artifact count, it is a legendary land. Only one is added because of this. Don't forget that if Tireless Tracker is on the field, the clue tokens count towards the artifact count!

One Sequestered Stash is added, in case Verdurous Gearhulk is put into the graveyard, or in case Aetherworks Marvel is countered. This card is sacrificed and will put him back on top of the deck, allowing immediate use for immediate use of an Aetherworks Marvel cast, or allow you to get back Aetherworks Marvel Next turn.

Finally, Westvale Abbey   is added to the deck, because of the large amount of creatures used in the deck. If Aetherworks Marvel is out on the field, you can sacrifice 5 creatures, allowing you to get flip Abbey, and gain five energy (from Aetherworks Marvel's first ability) to use towards Aetherworks Marvel to continue digging through the deck.

Side deck explanation

Aether Meltdown - The answer to most green-black delirium decks. It helps nullify their creatures, and gives you a 2 energy. Helps for staying alive until Aetherworks Marvel comes out on the field.

Dispel and Negate - Well, if you see blue or black control in their deck, there is a good chance you should side these in. Especially Dispel. Negate if they are running black control. Why? Well, we just need to look and see that both Ceremonious Rejection and Negate are in the format, making it extremely easy to counter Aetherworks Marvel . Furthermore, Ceremonious Rejection can stop the two titans of the deck, Emrakul, the Promised End and Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger. We cannot have this happening. Dispel Should always be sided in against this, because the only way they can stop it is with an instant spell. Though Negate has more uses, we want to get Aetherworks Marvel out as soon as possible, and for as cheap as possible. So the difference between Negate and Dispel is a turn 5 Aetherworks Marvel , and a turn 6 Aetherworks Marvel . This is why I prefer Dispel over Negate. However, both are run in the sideboard, just in case.

We run our own Ceremonious Rejections, to counter any other Aetherworks Marvel decks, artifact decks, or eldrazi that might cross our path. Ceremonious Rejection is an extremely strong card in the format, and should not be underestimated.

Jace, Unraveler of Secrets is run for the ability to bounce creatures, and the drawing and scry ability works very well with the deck. Usually replaced for Nissa.

Woodweaver's Puzzleknot is run against burn decks. Just side it in if you are going up against a Burn deck.

That's all I have to say. Please comment and leave any tips below. Thank you!
