I guess that makes sense. Tutor for win conditions. Do you find it expensive?

Sometimes. There's not much more frustrating than having to spend potentially all my mana just to grab a land so I can play a 7-drop like Karrthus or Balefire Dragon . That's why I like to grab Liliana Vess , because she gives me an extra, less expensive tutor at a slightly lower speed. But honestly, I rarely find it; while I routinely draw cards like Kokusho, the Evening Star and Aggravated Assault , apparently I have a hard time drawing Bear Umbra and Planar Portal .

Do you even Stormbreath Dragon bro? 5 CMC for a 4/4 flying haste with a relevant protection and a killer ability?

Also, ACHIEVEMENTS!

Like moths... er, Dragons, to a flame: Use Chromatic Lantern to get ten Dragons onto the battlefield in one game.

Awww... it's so cu... OW!: Get a Dragon Broodmother token with 10 or more power.

Hi there! I wanted to come over here and take a few shots at- I mean, give some constructed criticism on your deck. I wouldn't mind if you did the same over at Talrand's Party of One.

I'm really bad at suggesting cards to add, but some things that I'd remove:

  • Dolmen Gate : This is an aggressive deck. Your concern should rarely be "need to keep this creature alive from blockers". Think like Hydras for your dragons (Hydragons? Hydreigon? wut): Cut off one head, two more will take its place. Who cares if I lose a dude, I've got two more coming. That kinda thing.
  • Mycosynth Lattice : Sure, it's a nifty interaction with Hellkite Tyrant , but you'd need to draw and play both for that to come up, and that's a pretty rare thing with this deck. That kinda makes it six-mana color fixing that does the same thing for your opponent.
  • Rage Reflection : If you want to grant double strike, nothing else is like it. If you want to deal double damage, try Furnace of Rath or Dictate of the Twin Gods . You should not care if your opponent gets a bit of bonus out of this, because you're getting a ridiculous bonus due to your ridiculously big creatures.

I'd suggest some more ramp. You obviously want a permanent, rather than a sorcery, because of Primal Surge. Maybe Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger or Zhur-Taa Ancient ?

Thanks again for featuring my deck in your article!

Thanks for the help erabel!

You're right, Dolmen Gate and Mycosynth Lattice can be cut pretty easily. Rage Reflection I like, but I'll try Dictate of the Twin Gods in its place (right after I got a RR too...). I don't like how Zhur-Taa Ancient also doubles the opponent's mana, but I like Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger . It was shown to be really effective in I think the fifth article. And to round it out, I think I'll also include Sakura-Tribe Elder for early ramp.

I don't think Stormbreath Dragon is as powerful as most of the dragons in here.

Thanks again erabel!

Eh, screw it, decided to try Stormbreath Dragon instead of Hunted Dragon .

I think the only thing about this deck is answers. This doesn't have that much removal and can get shut down by control as well.

Will there be an overhaul with Dragons of Tarkir?

Atarka, World Render, Dragonlord Atarka, Dragonlord Kolaghan, and Kolaghan, the Storm's Fury fit will into here

GoldGhost012 says... #10

Yes, there will be an overhaul with Khans of Tarkir. Which I have not gotten around to yet.

A little off flavor but Mikaeus, the Unhallowed could make your Dragons stronger and give them undying. It's a problem if you're playing Dragon Decks as you'll need to re-cast Karthuus, but it may be nice to try

Updated for Khans of Tarkir. Not sure what to make of Dragonlord Kolaghan.

CelticStag says... #13

Kolaghan is just a big haste engine, which Karthuus already gives you. Considering all your dragons give beneficial effects, I would ditch him.

Commander won't have copies in graveyards so he's no good for that ability

perhaps you're right.

New achievement to unlock! Fireborn visions: draw 10+ cards from Knollspine Dragon while casting him exclusively with mana coming from Soulbright Flamekin!

This deck looks damn fun to play by the way. :D

Achievement idea, "Dragon Tribal, Right..." Have only the non-dragon creatures on the battlefield when you win the game.

May 7, 2015 6:50 p.m.

GoldGhost012 says... #17

I'll purge the achievements soon then.

May 8, 2015 1:07 p.m.

Why did you take out Crucible of Fire? It's so good in this deck. Also, in my Karrthus deck I run both Haven of the Spirit Dragon and Crucible of the Spirit Dragon, which are really good for dragon tribal. Finally, if you're running Aggravated Assault, you should run Savage Ventmaw for ramp and an infinite combo. :) nice deck.

GoldGhost012 says... #19

I took out Crucible of Fire because it's really win-more; my dragons are already big most of the time. Plus all the cards I put in affect the game a bit more that Crucible of Fire.

Yeah, I'll probably put one or both of those cards in soon.

Savage Ventmaw is a little too slow since it doesn't immediately have haste unless Karrthus, Tyrant of Jund is on the battlefield. As such, with no protection built in as well, it's incredibly vulnerable.

Actually Emrakul, I tried out Crucible of the Spirit Dragon in my dragon tribal deck and actually it is better to use Molten Slagheap and Fungal Reaches because alot of the time you will use Crucible of the Spirit Dragon and then need that mana for non dragon related spells.

Mikaeus, the Unhallowed is ACTUALLY pretty good with Bladewing and Cock-usho.

Death by Dragons and Descent of Dragons are excellent cards. You can make a lot of dragons and then steal them.

Omega346 says... #23

Actually I have a some cool challenges, since you seem to have that feature going on in your comments;

"All your dragons are belong to us" - Steal 5 or more dragon tokens from an opponent's battlefield but put into play by a spell you own in one turn.

"All hail the Tyrant of Jund!" - Steal 3 Dragons owned by an opponent with Karrthus in one turn.

"The flow of death becomes a tidal wave" - Bring out every single card in your deck with Primal Surge and kill at least 2 players in the same turn.
