Are you annoyed at how linear creature based aggro decks are? Are you bothered that a well-placed T3 Anger of the Gods completely stops your creature based strategery? Are you molested that wonderful creature etb effects only occur on your turn before combat initiates?
I was too!!
That's why I modified my other allies deck to function with Aether Vial to form what you see here. While it doesn't have the raw power you can see from Harabaz Druid and Collected Company, I designed this decklist to properly leverage the strengths afforded to the deck by instant speed allies.
4x Aether Vial: Do you know what's better than ridiculous ally ETB effects? Ridiculous ally ETB effects at instant speed! Set a scary fast game pace, prepare predictable (yet incredibly effective) combat tricks (are you sure you want to block that creature while my Vial's on 2?), make your allies uncounterable, and best of all you can leverage Kabira Evangel's protection when it's not your turn.
Cards that have noteworthy synergies: Kabira Evangel, Mirror Entity, Kor Bladewhirl, Jwari Shapeshifter, Akoum Battlesinger
Various effects you can constantly represent with a vial out: ETB trigger for all allies on the board IN ADDITION TO: +1/+0, First Strike, Protection from any color, and a randomly enormous pump spell
4x Hada Freeblade: Have you seen a faster, scarier, nastier ally? No. You haven't, this guy is dirty.
4x Expedition Envoy: This guy's crap, honestly, but he's only got 1 little white symbol in the top right corner and one very important creature type. He's good because he's another 1 drop ally, but he's the worst creature in the deck.
4x Kazandu Blademaster: I take back what I said about Hada Freeblade, this guy is the scariest, nastiest ally you'll ever see. He's not as fast, but I'm seeing an awful lot of keywords for just 2 mana.
4x Akoum Battlesinger: We've got a hasty 2-drop that anthems all of our allies? Okay, that sounds like it might be good enough to be a 4-of here. You can vial it in (or threaten to do so) to screw with combat or make a surprise lethal attack.
4x Jwari Shapeshifter: Well hello there Akoum Battlesinger. I'm glad I was allowed to run 8 of you. With vial on the board, you can more safely cast her, assuring you can vial an ally onto the board if your opponent manages to wipe away your other juicy copy targets (cause nothing sucks more than getting two-for-oned).
2x Kor Bladewhirl: I've been on the fence about this guy. He's not that great, but with vial, he becomes way better. Surprise first strike is a pretty valuable combat trick.
4x Oran-Rief Survivalist: So he's not the best ally in my deck... but god damn does he put Grizzly Bears to shame.
4x Kabira Evangel: Any allies deck running vial must run this as a 4-of. It can give instant speed protection from targeted spells/abilities AND certain sweepers. It also grants evasion to the crew against any colored creatures. Remember, you don't need to choose the color until the ability resolves.
2x Mirror Entity: This is a card I toy around with occasionally. It wins the grind game always, but it also has some serious surprise value coming through a vial allow it to enter the battlefield and leave mana up for it's ability. Wait for blockers to be assigned, then give your opponent an unpleasant surprise.
Hope you enjoyed my take on a deck of Expeditious Allies! If you did, feel free to leave a like, comment, and subscr... right, this isn't Youtube.
