So once upon a time I ran an Ixalan draft, and for some reason got stuck between black and red or green with some pretty "bad" cards, so I just picked the a keyword and ran with it.
The first card I picked up was Lurking Chupacabra, since removal is amazing in draft formats and I've always been fond of effects that tend to stick around, as opposed to a one time Shock or Magma Spray. After that I kinda bounced between green and red, since green had more appealing options, but the cards I drew gave me better red options.
I went 3-1 with that deck, which surprised me quite a bit since I'd thought it was pretty garbage, and it made me more interested in the explore mechanic.
Fast forward to Rivals of Ixalan, and out comes Path of Discovery! Not to mention our lovely Tomb Rai... I mean, Tomb Robber. Ravenous Chupacabra looked plenty appetizing as well, so why not make it a 'cabra party!?
While all of those cards are great and work wonderfully, I've found the true bread and butter of this deck has been the simple yet effective Wildgrowth Walker. It's got lifegain, triggers off of almost everything in the deck at least once, and it's a 1/3 for 2, which gives you enough to block with and keep you safe for the beginning of the game until you get a bit more set up!
Of course, as this is a very new deck for me and I've not heard mention of any of the pros running any of these cards, I'd love suggestions! The reason that certain cards aren't included in the current deck list is simple; I'm poor and can't afford them at the moment!
