Game Day —Feb. 13, 2016
Brought the list to Game Day to see how it would fare. Ended up 3-2. Did top 8 (no cut to top 8 at Haunted) to get the promo Jori En, Ruin Diver.
Match 1: vs. Mardu Dragons
Lost 1-2: Game 1 was all about the Seeker+Soulfire+Removal tempo train. I only saw 1 Transgress the Mind early and then got tempo'd out. Game 2 was the exact opposite of game 1. I saw a plethora of hand disruption and he was reduced to top decking by turn 3. Turn 5 Reality Smasher into an empty board on his part and that was that. Game 3 was much grindier. Even though I saw good hand disruption, he had good top decks. I even used Infinite Obliteration on his Thunderbreaks but he got there at the end flying with Dragonmaster Outcast tokens and Kolaghan, the Storm's Fury to which I had no answers.
Match 2: vs. UR Prowess
Won 2-0: Hand disruption against his few creatures won the first game for me and Warping Wail out of the sideboard game 2 shone heavily to both timely counter a Treasure Cruise and to kill a topdecked Stormchaser Mage.
Match 3: vs. Temur Prowess
Won 2-0: Took game 1 again with the hand disruption. Brought in the two Infinite Obliterations against him game 2 because he was running more creatures and bigger ones. Ended up taking his Savage Knuckleblades with it. Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim and Wail shone once again as Ayli was able to exile a Jace and trade with Surrak Dragonclaw.
Match 4: vs. Abzan variant
Won 2-0: Game 1 was decided once again by Transgresses early into Thought-Knot Seer. Gideon closed the game out himself for me. Game 2 was longer and more walker heavy for me. Ended the game with an Ob Nixilis Reignited, Sorin, Solemn Visitor and Gideon on the board at once all supporting TKS and Smasher.
Match 5: vs. G/R Eldrazi Ramp
Lost 0-2: World Breaker is a thing. He saw three game 1. The first i took out of his hand. The second landed but I Stasis Snared. The third took out the snare and left him with two on the board followed closely by Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger. My Gideon and Sorin looked pathetic against them. Game 2 I did see an Obliteration and took away his World Breakers but Ulamog finished the game for him as I couldn't get pressure fast enough.
I need to work on my sideboard matchups for Dragons and Ramp. The deck has problems with flyers and the bigger Eldrazi. Before Game Day take two tomorrow, I'm going to change the 'board to include the full playset of Infinite Obliterations against those two matchups. Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet didn't even come in, I didn't see Rally at all. So with the local meta not playing it much, I think the Hallowed Moonlights and the Obliterations will be enough.
