Hi! The deck has changed quite a bit since I last updated the deck, so i'd like to share what changed:
REMOVED:
Ghitu Encampment, Secluded Steppe, and Forgotten Cave are out. Monocolor lands that enter tapped aren't the greatest, and you usually rather want the mana than cycling or a 2/1 first striker.
Lorehold Campus's benefit is pretty bad.
Temple of the False God is out because it just generally isn't the best.
Everflowing Chalice is good, but not for this deck.
Skullclamp is a powerful card for sure, but just doesn't fit the deck's plan.
Arcane Encyclopedia is out. Card draw is nice, but it's hard to make room for that 3 mana every turn.
Shiny Impetus is just plain bad.
Eiganjo Uprising is a card I want to like, but it just never goes off like its supposed to and benefits your opponents way too much in a multiplayer format.
Launch the Fleet can be a good payoff lategame, but usually ends up just giving you a few soldier tokens and nothing else.
To Arms!, a card with one of the most fun names in mtg, just isn't good enough to justify a spot in the deck.
Kalemne, Disciple of Iroas is a good creature for its cost that has the potential to be big, but it lacks any real synergy with the commander or the rest of the deck.
Warmind Infantry, Squee, the Immortal, and Genasi Enforcers fall to a similar problem as Kalemne, except in this case the cards are just bad. (Except for Squee, but this isn't a goblin or combo deck)
Furnace Reins has won me a game before, actually, but i'm sadly annoucing its retirement. It just doesn't work very well 85% of the time.
Mind Stone isn't bad, but is replaced with a more synergistic option.
ADDED:
Restless Bivouac, Opal Palace, Clifftop Retreat, 1 Plains, and a Mountain replace my cut lands.
Mana Crypt. Believe it or not, I actually opened this thing! From a booster! Too good to pass up.
Rising of the Day. Some of my creatures have haste, but most don't, and many of the creatures that don't have haste would greatly benefit from it.
Dowsing Dagger
and Sword of the Animist are ramp cards that fit the deck's theme. What's not to love?
Path to Exile and Generous Gift have also been added on top of Swords to Plowshares. More removal is always useful, and Generous Gift's ability to blow up noncreature permanents is in high demand as well.
Glimmer Lens Is a neat little equipment that lets me draw cards by attacking.
Inti, Seneschal of the Sun buffs my creatures and creates some nice card advantage in the right circumstances. It is also a 2 drop, filling the hole created by removing genesai enforcers.
Eomer, Marshal of Rohan isn't a paticularily good card. It's really only here to discourage my opponents from blocking some of my creatures during combat.
Chimil, the Inner Sun makes all my spells uncounterable, and gives me a potentially free card each turn. (And if I don't want to cast it, the card can go in my hand!)
Rip Apart Offers some nice artifact/enchantment removal and is a burn spell in a pinch.
The Irencrag Replaces Mind Stone, it just fits the deck more.
That's it for what i've changed, but i'd like to use some space to talk about what I still want to remove and what I'd like to add.
What I want to cut:
Razia, Boros Archangel is neat and has some nice flavor, but a 6/6 with some keywords isn't worth 8 mana.
Neyali, Sun's Vangaurd. This isn't really a token deck, but the presence of some token generators led me to add this card. It's very replaceable, though.
Haktos the Unscarred suffers from the same issue Kalemne does, in that it has good potential to deal lots of damage, but doesn't synergise with the deck.
Captain Lannery Storm, Mirage Phalanx, Eomer, Marshal of Rohan, and Hardened Berserker. None of these cards are bad, but other cards can be better.
Rip Apart. At this time Rip Apart is just a placeholder for the deck, before I get a Wear / Tear.
Firemane Angel Suffers similarily to Razia, where it's just overcosted for what your getting out of it,despite the nice flavor.
Things I want to add:
Odric, Lunarch Marshal is a powerful card, that gives my creatures the keywords of all my other creatures! This gives my creatures flying, haste, and vigilance with just my commander alone, making it a can't-miss pick for this deck.
Port Razer, Professional Face-Breaker and Legion Loyalist. Effecient red creatures are hard to come by these days, and these three cards are exemplary at what they do.
Umezawa's Jitte, for its pure utility and power.
Winds of Abandon as an efficient win condition. They won't get to use those lands if they're dead!
Gisela, Blade of Goldnight protects my creatures and makes my opponents take twice as much damage from all sources, not just my own.
Frontline Medic gets my creatures through combat healthy, and counters an X spell in a pinch.
Firemane Commando is a Glimmer Lens with flying.
Anduril, Narsil Reforged is a powerful equipment that triggers off attacking.
Akroma's Will can serve to assist in an alpha strike, or as a combat trick.
Reforge the Soul Replinishes my hand, and I don't need to sell my kidney for it like Wheel of Fortune.
and last but not least, Wear / Tear is an amazingly effecient removal card, that can take out two threats at a time for just three mana.
Honorable mention: Plateau, which I still don't have a real copy of...
