Tuned Ezuri +1/+1 counter synergy build. The core game plan is play out Ezuri, play creatures with power 2 or less to get experience counters, place +1/+1 counters on creatures and finally exploit synergies of creatures to profit.

Win conditions: infinite turns by targeting Sage of Hours every combat with Ezuri out and 5+ experience counters. Alternatively (and more commonly), smash with a lot of big-ish creatures buffed by Triumph of the Hordes or Craterhoof Behemoth.

Rationale:

Cards that add redundancy to Ezuri's ability (i.e. cards that place +1/+1 counters on other creatures) are heavily prioritized, as my meta is growing to prey on decks that are too reliant on the commander.

My meta is almost 100% blue decks, has a lot of white removal floating around, and has a lot of decks that are very reliant on their commanders' abilities to function. Due to this, there are a few meta picks:

Key cards that serve multiple roles in the deck, thus making them critical to the strategy:

  • Plaxcaster Frogling: a complete house. Puts counters on itself on entry, can graft counters (even ones added later with Ezuri's ability) to other creatures, and has a protective ability. It's a bummer that it gives shroud instead of hexproof (if someone tries to remove a creature you're targeting with Ezuri's ability, it will fizzle both the removal and Ezuri's ability) but if you can get a counter on Ezuri himself it's great protection.

  • The Great Henge: wow. A source of +1/+1 counters onto creatures, card draw, and ramp (albeit later game ramp). This does everything our deck wants to do.
