I'd like to read your comments on what and why something would or would not work in this deck.

I read the 2nd novel of Lorwyn and really loved the story. It was also my first time exploring the lore behind the cards, so after that I really wanted to build couple of decks around my favorite characters. I felt that an elf tribal around Rhys the Redeemed could be kinda.. difficult, especially on the wallet (Haven't really checked the prices on the elves I'd maybe have in the deck but I just heard a bit of this and that about elf tribals) so I decided to go with just equally as awesome character, Ashling the Pilgrim.

Well, Ashling is really cool and all, but then I found something else that's awesome and I wanted to utilize with a mono red elemental tribal; Nova Chaser. The card has some serious weaknesses, but then there's all the other elementals to make up for them. I'm satisfied with what I have made and I could love the deck to little pieces!

How the deck works?

You could call it a Nova Chaser turbo, pretty much every card works towards the goal of making Chaser come out asap, hit fast and hit hard.

  • Flamekin Harbinger + Nova Chaser is the bread and butter of the deck. Flamekin Harbinger lets you to search for another Nova Chaser, and after he's gone and your championed Harbinger hits the table again, you'll get to search another!

  • Generator Servant, Incandescent Soulstoke and Smokebraider ramp you a Nova Chaser faster and lets it swing instantly, which is really important. The odds for Nova chaser to do his work are already rather slim since normally you'd have to wait a turn before slamming, but with haste you leave the opponent only one chance to deal with him before the harm is done.

  • Fling Is an amazing game finisher. If Nova Chaser swings even once with that trample, it usually takes only this and a Lightning Bolt to close the game.

  • Rest of the cards are for more consistency and damage/removal. Faithless Looting and Wild Guess keeps your hand more or less the way you'd like it to be. Lightning Bolt and Searing Blood works as removal or potentially as the extra kick to get that lethal 3 damage. I really love Browbeat here since it fills both roles. It doesn't matter much whether opponent wants to take a Lava Axe in the face or let me Jace's Ingenuity, both works wonders with only 2 mana.
