What about Venser, Shaper Savant ? He's one of my favorite creatures right now because of his resto angel shenanigans. :)

You are correct! I had removed him because of his mana cost but he seems too important to leave out. :)

I think your deck has to many 1 and 2 of's you cannot tutor for. It would add a lot of consistency to focus the deck on 2 or 3 key interactions and cut a color, like green, to optimize your mana base (Blood Moon is a thing). You could try Esper control with a sub-theme of faeries.

So if I understand correctly you're running green only for Reclamation Sage and one sideboard card? Is that really worth a way more inconsistent mana base? I mean I see that he'd just destroy certain match ups, but he'd just sit idly in others. At least I'd cut a few green mana sources and change Stirring Wildwood for Creeping Tar Pit . Also isn't Blind Obedience just better than Frozen AEther ? I know it doesn't hit lands, but it's so much cheaper and has extort...

Extort is nice, I guess it would be better in this deck cause mistbind clique can take care of lands. Originally I just liked the art in Frozen Aether so I guess I will change it thanks.

it might just be me, but Oona's Blackguard has very few rogues to trigger off of, so in its place, I think Spellstutter Sprite might be better, as it can also deal with threats early on, as well as become fodder for your Mistbind Clique

4x Spellstutter Sprite is pretty much a necessity in every faerie deck. I'd say drop 3x Syncopate and 1x Mistbind Clique to get them in the deck. With Bitterblossom , Spellstutter Sprite is crazy powerful and a very good counterspell. Also, why not a couple swords since you are all flying? 1x Sword of Fire and Ice and 1x Sword of Feast and Famine would be very good. Better than Mistbind Clique (he's really not that great) I'd say.

I'd try to run the full playset of Remand as well, especially since you're running Thoughtseize . How has Liliana of the Veil been working out for you? She could be dropped to add in full playsets of the aforementioned cards, if she isn't working out that is.

Auriok Champion seems out of place here. It offsets Bitterblossom , but if you can't win before dying to an active Bitterblossom you're doing something wrong. The WW also stretches your mana (it's worse than Supreme Verdict because you want it turn 2).

I'll try to get my hands on some more Spellstutter Sprite's I only have 2 at the moment. Liliana does pretty well, esp since I have counter magic to back her up. Will think about the swords and a way to add more faeries, thanks for the suggestions!

Since you run white in the deck, have you looked into Restoration Angel ? probably only a sideboard card but with the Spellstutter Sprite s its effectively another counterspell and a 3/4 flier at that.

honestly the only thing I'd suggest is swapping your sword to either :

Sword of Feast and Famine : Since you guys have flash, being able to drop something on your upkeep, swing and untap then have mana up during your opponents turn while also playing a bit of aggressive discard seems right in tow with you strategy.

Sword of Fire and Ice : That extra burn is so relevant as is the protection you get from the equip. Extra draw will also put you extremely far ahead

That is a fair comment. Thank you... so far my luck with the Sword of Feast and famine is that it doesn't really help, often the sword doesn't get through or is blocked unless you stick it on a creeping tar pit for a turn. The way this list got geared, I pulled out a lot of the counter magic in exchange for tempo / bounce spells like echoing truth. That way I can bounce a blood moon or some creature before attacking. I still have the spellstutter's and a few counter spells if needed. So usually I don't need to have mana open on an opponent's turn, not that I couldn't but I prefer to go with the life gain / burn option of the sword of war and peace. I am not against switching it out, but I don't see much of a difference with using any of the swords in my game play style.

Most of the time, you won't have enough spells in your hand late game to need to play a bunch of stuff main phase, untap and play more spells on opponents turn. That is an ideal situation that doesn't happen to often. I usually want to play all my spells ASAP or I wait and play them on the opponents turn, I haven't ever needed to do BOTH but maybe I just don't draw enough cards for that.

I see where you're coming from. in which case, even fire and ice still does that better since it actually burns in itself and draws towards the next spell. I've just never had luck with war and peace. Either you or your opponent never has enough in hand for it to work in modern unless you're playing against like combo or something in which case, they'll aim to kill you before it matters anyways

Thanks for the suggestion, very helpful! I need to buy some sword of fire and ice cards haha, =]I would like to try the sword of fire and ice. If the opponent has no cards in hand then they are just top decking, which I hope is an advantage for you assuming that they don't have a better board state then you. I usually have a few cards in hand to gain life. I need to play more games with this deck to be sure. The sword comes out like turn 3, equip it turn 4 and attack, so if you are not dead by then you probably have a shot at controlling the game in some way depending on which sword you have picked. Traditionally faeries does use sword of feast and famine, I guess I was trying to come up with some new way to play the deck but I can always switch out the sword. I stole the phantasmal image idea from the merfolk deck which is mainly aggro, it seems like modern is a bunch of fast aggro decks or combo these days, not sure entirely where faeries will fit in to that :(

Well there's always some sort of tempo which I think Fae actually do better than fish. The only thing i'd watch out for is Scion of Oona actually makes it impossible to equip swords since everything has shroud.

September 24, 2014 1:55 p.m.

nated668 says... #24

True, you have to equip the sword on the scion of oona or on a faerie before it comes out. and make sure the sword is equipped on one scion of oona before you cast a second one giving it shroud. I think the sword is too valuable though not to try playing around that problem.
