In today's Modern Metagame, greedy landbases run rampant and 4 to 5 color decks are everywhere to be found. This Tempo Aggro-Control deck looks to punish those greedy landbases and tempo our opponents out of the game.

Faeries Under the Tutelage of the Moon

Faeries have traditionally been ran in Dimir colors in the past. However, most of the best Faeries are Blue, so we have decided to splash Red and go for Izzet instead. Red overall has weaker removal options than Black does, so what could be so important that we go out of our way to run Red? Blood Moon. I feel that the typical "Blue Moon" Control deck is best utilized for faster wins within a Faerie shell, especially with some of the support they have received over the last couple years.

New Faerie Support

Sprite Dragon slots into the Deck as the offensive threat that Faeries lacked overall. Coupled with Scion of Oona with Flash, you can easily protect this threat and further boost it. This card has the distinction over Murktide Regent by being able to come down early and swing right away, but Murktide is going to be better late game. However, the more Faeries we run, the better our deck Functions overall due to Spellstutter Sprite being one of our best Tempo cards. Brazen Borrower is another standout card from recent years that has great Tempo disruption utility as well and can come out later to swing in for decent damage, all on one card.

In summary, I feel this might be the best shell for Blue Moon decks to take form with. The Tempo swings can really discourage people from continuing the game and when coupled with Blood Moon, you can effectively cripple a large portion of the Metagame while being able to out-tempo in the mirror match. Give it a shot, you may just win a Modern Tournament.
