Starting off with Champion of the Parish or Thalia's Lieutenant is not necessary, but it is recommended. Getting Thalia's Lieutenant on the first turn can sometimes be a pain, cause you don't really have anything to give counters, but she still gets stronger over time, so it's also not that big of an issue.

But getting Champion of the Parish first turn is awesome, especially if you have 2 of them. You put them both out, so by your second turn you'll have a 2/2 and a 1/1. Then you throw out Grand Abolisher or Thalia's Lieutenant and just was the magic happen.

Suprisingly, Mikaeus, the Lunarch work really well, both early and late game, but I feel like theres room for something better, I just haven't found anything. Some I get him and i'm like "Oh great!" But more often than not, i'm like "you again..." So if you have any ideas, let me know.
