2 things my deck dose though is survive supreme verdict and bounce fanatic for double damage. I just try to be fast but sturdy too. Also I can side for real trouble with white available and still act almost mono red. I usually play Scry lands when I have no 1 drop on turn 1 . I usually dont get slowed down much by them as I find mountains to play instead when I dont need W or Scry.

Id play a few Firefist Striker if I were you. I dropped off a Zealot and a phoenix and a cackler for 3 of em. They are good and burning-tree can cast em unlike zealot and frostburn weird. I just think they put more pressure on and more damage through. Also I would like you to peak at this card as it is ready to be played by your deck Five-Alarm Fire

Hey! Thanks for the interest in the deck! I had mine VERY similar to yours, but I decided to swap to MonoRed over Boros for the consistence I could have with the single color.
The Boros one is really fun, and I like it, but this one doesn't ever leave you needing a mana-fix or anything of that sort.
The Firefist Striker 's have been on my mind for a bit, but when I tried them, I found there wasn't any cards that I figured they were worth taking out to replace. You'll need every R mana symbol you can to get that Fanatic to bring the pain and finish the game.
Thanks for the suggestion and I like your deck btw! It got a +1 from me!

just dont play all 4 zealots go 3 and drop 2 loyalist and wham 3x firefist strikers. if they dont work out for you..switch back but thats 4 possible devotion for 3 devotion not really mogis busting but firefist is a ball buster in a race. Ask any recent RDW player even DelTora will tell you about em. He was in the second place deck at the open last saturday. Check it out on SCG

Thanks! I may drop a mountain and the one of Gore-House Chainwalker for 2x of the Firefist Striker .
I'll playtest with them for a week and update with how it goes!

Your deck is quite similar to mine Mono-Red Aggro (Theros Standard) [1st place FNM]. In terms of changing things you could replace 3x Legion Loyalist s with Firefist Striker s or Gore-House Chainwalker s. You could also replace the 2x Stormbreath Dragon s with 2x Chandra, Pyromaster s as it kinda goes against the aggro style.Frostburn Weird s seem like a great option for devotion pumping your Fanatic of Mogis aswell.
Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx is also a great card, but you would have to become a little more midrange to take advantage of it. +1

He dosnt main stormbreath and he is testing firefist already and frostburn is only a side card for zealot in a mirror otherwise zealot is faster. Chandra though I think would speed up your draws and help firefist say sorry no blocking.

I think gore-house was in that 1rst place RDW just to be funny as a 1 of. There is like 3 or 4 things it could be like firefist or mortars or chandra or the hammer or purphoros or Five-Alarm Fire You know I wanna talk about this last card. In extensive testing five-alarm did 5 dam at least 1 time whenever it was in play and about 40% it dealt 5 twice because all your doing is attacking and it gets a counter for each instance of one creature you control dealing combat dam even if your creatures block they deal combat dam. In instances where burning tree chained three creatures like b-tree , b-tree , firefist I cast it turn 3 attacked and usually got 10 damage out of it and it almost always was the finisher.

It's nice to see a devotion deck that doesn't run Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx just because "they can."
Certainly looks like a force to reckoned with. (Pun intended)

Firefist Striker is way better than gorehouse and also chains off burning-tree. It makes a huge difference on turn 3s where your opponent could only muster 1 viable blocker and may let in up to 10 dam turn 3 on a nut draw. You should consider dropping a jet and bolt and going 3x on those and drop gorehouse and play 3x firefist. I promise you will look back and wonder why you didnt always play him. Dont worry about removal, all your 2 drops die to that. Consider that firefist will get all the attention as well protecting your real devotion threats.

My other suggestion is that you side frostburn wierd as an alternate for ash zealot in a mirror match scenerio. id just drop 2 shock 1 Burning earth 1 peak eruption. I see burning earth as being kinda slow and not a card that fits into an RDW style deck as a 3x....its just too many. Answer this if you sided in three and opened with 3 mountains and a lightning bolt, a legion loyalist and 2 burning earth would you keep?
November 14, 2013 9:27 p.m.
RedCloud2012: I actually playtested quite a bit with the Firefist Striker in that spot as well, and while I really like the Striker, the bigger body on the Gore-House Chainwalker and the extra few points of Dmg every turn really seem to matter.
Araganor: Thanks! I tried it once.... It's not worth it in Mono-Red like this at all. haha.
Also, I see what ya did there. ;) haha

RedCloud2012: I would absolutely keep that against the control matchup.
Have you every dropped a Burning Earth against a control deck? They deal with it right then, or lose. It's SO powerful, and I've considered running 4x in sideboard.
The odds of me drawing well after that as an opening hand are still really great, and playing 2 in that matchup is Fantastic.

(3 Color control is what I'm talking about) (Esper is mostly what I'm referring to)

but firefist gets more than 1 extra point of damage through and probably saves you a creature. Maybe you should try it again and each time you are about to attack turn 3 put a chainwalker from outside the game in its place then declare attacks then deal damage then undo everything and put back firefist and declare attacks. Do this 6 or 7 times and I bet 6 out of 7 firefist gets you more damage and advantage. The only scenerio where chainwalker is better is on turn 3 if your opponent has no blockers, but on turn 4 firefist again would be better if they just get their first blocker and he gets everything through so he still gets you more than the 1 extra point each turn even in the best case scenerio for gorehouse. Ask a pro if you think I am mistaken.

reguarding burning earth...it was a suggestion but I stand by what I said about frostburn wierd. I see it in your maybe board. I would point out that that card won Baltimore SCG Open last year in an RDW with Pursuit of Flight where he splash Izzet duel lands into RDW and relied on frostburns big rear end to stimey other aggro's hopes

I'd like to throw in my opinion here, if it's cool with you guys. The way I see it, Gore-House Chainwalker has the benefit of being able to punch through early game fatties like Omenspeaker or Sylvan Caryatid on turn 3, whereas Firefist Striker sacrifices that power in place of not allowing the block to occur. However, in order for that to be profitable you need 3 creatures on the attack. Most often, that would be something along the lines of Rakdos Cackler , Firefist Striker , and Boros Reckoner , which would allow us to get through a blocker on turn 4. Of course, since you have Chandra's Phoenix , Legion Loyalist , and Burning-Tree Emissary , it is quite possible to get the battalion trigger on turn 3. As long as you are not disrupted, you will probably be avoiding one blocker around turn 3 or 4. Given the benefit of the doubt, let's say it's turn 3 with you on the play.
Let's look at some common 2 mana creatures currently being used in standard: Top 8 Decks of Pro Tour Theros
Looks like some common creatures being run at the 2 mana slot are:
Omenspeaker 1/3
Frostburn Weird 1/4
Tidebinder Mage 2/2 (With a lockdown effect that can slow down battalion)
Scavenging Ooze 2/2
Sylvan Caryatid 0/3
Precinct Captain 2/2 first strike
Ash Zealot 2/2 first strike
Seems like we have an average toughness of about 2, with a few creatures with 3 toughness. Power is an average of about 2. So, the extra toughness from the Chainwalker will seldom make a difference from what can be seen here. However, the 3 power could punch through Omenspeaker and Sylvan Caryatid , so it is still useful. On the other hand, if firefist's battalion triggers, you will be doing extra damage because they were denied the ability to block for the turn, guaranteeing at least one more attacker through, which equals more damage. The only issue with Firefist is that if you don't get your 3 attackers because your opponent disrupted you, then you won't be doing as much damage, and your opponent will have an easier time stabilizing.
Honestly, I think they're both pretty good, and you could hardly go wrong with one over the other.
